no reverse or drive

So all of a sudden, our 2005 renagade has lost reverse and drive. When you put the automatic into reverse or drive it acts as if it is in neutral. This happens when in 2wd ,4 hi, or 4 lo. I tried the key cycle code and got a p0700 code. any ideals before i get it towed to a shop in the morning?

P0700 is a generic transmission fault code. You would need a scan tool to pull the actual transmission codes. Check the fluid level, but other than that, best to have it towed in. How many miles do you have on it, and how often has the fluid been changed?

its been upkept with its maintance, fluid is good and not low. it has around 80,000 miles on it

How many times has the fluid been replaced though? Either way, under normal use, it shouldn't fail completely by now. There may be an electrical problem causing the issues.
