Hi who else fitted a v8 in a kj?

Quite an interesting choice of motor. I assume this one has VVT? That's a 300HP monster right there. Now can you get it back together and running with all electronics in tact?
Which engine is it? It's upside down and I can only make out "V8 Four Cam" on the valve cover.. I dont recognize it otherwise. But it looks mean and nasty.

Yeah and no torque. The 3.7 puts out better #'s at lower rpm's that are actually useable.
I didn't even see that. Confirms that it's a VVT. It's a Toyota 1UZ-FE. Says it right on the front cover. (Upside down of course)
Of course two vague posts and the poster is not to be heard from. I don't understand these "V8 swap" people.
Because they don't work.
I can only confirm 1 V8 swapped KJ that works, sadly I can't disclose any info on it besides it's in the middle east and was done in Minnesota by a guy that made a Viper V10 look stock in a TJ.
"Can't disclose any info"
You sound just like every hoo-ha that comes on here and says "I'm swappin a v8 and it's gonna be purdy." :smokin:
No the owner just doesn't want his info spread,I had to pry like hell to get any info from the builder.
The main thing was it had to be SFA'd for it to correctly work and space issues with oil pans.
Just like every other owner.
I enjoy seeing the builds, but I always remember the guy in Honduras that put a 4.7 in his and got it driveable but then regretted it since the rest of the vehicle didn't support it well.
SFA and the works completely fixes it I'm sure. But in a mostly stock KJ (just the usual lift etc), I'm convinced the 3.7 is the best fit for the vehicle.
