That's subjective. I was relatively surprised with the power from the 2.4L in the KJ when I drove it one day. But I'd most certainly go for the 3.7L.... but I understand what you mean by taxes.

And some countries / even states in the US title cars by build date rather than model year. So that just might be an "'05".

Actually, the cars are titled by engine volume in my country:( The bigger engine you have, the more tax you pay.. I'll have to pay nearly $1500 for the 2.4 and over $2000 yearly for the 3.7:(

Marlon, so you had some 2.4 experience, and you say it was strong enough..
Well.. This is what I call a dilemma:-\

I was talking about what YEAR it was. I know about the titling by engine size though, ouch. What country? Here, in my state, the taxes (reg. fees) are based on vehicle value.

Why don't you just take both on a test drive and make your decision? Like I said, "power" is definitely subjective, what might seem slow to one person, might seem like decently quick to another.

I guess Turkey is like the rest of Europe regarding vehicle insurance.

Yes, the country is Turkiye. The vehicle tax system is kind of different than Europe though.

Anyway, despite its higher taxes, I really like the Renny above.
2.4 has no advantage else than paying $1000 less tax per year.

Well, just for your own information...
Here in British Columbia, Canada with 26 years safe driving, we pay $1750.00
per year for full coverage vehicle insurance for our KJ!

As for the insurance, same here.. I was talking about the vehicle taxes. I don't know how the system works in Canada, but we pay yearly taxes for being the owner of a vehicle here. For the 3.7. Liberty, I'll pay over $2000 as tax and over $1500 for the insurance yearly.

Ok 2.4 and 3.7 mileage will nearly be the same.. But do you think 2.4 engine will not be sufficient in some conditions?

if by conditions you are talking climbing hills ect. ,on road
then no the 2.4 will be ok as long as stock size tires are on it
once you go to a bigger tire your MPG's and any hill climbing power will be gone
think in terms of the TJ's with the 4 ****** in them
they came stock with 4.10's and 30" tall tires
if you lift and go to 33's then 4.88's are needed but the problem with the KJ
is that the 4.10's that come in the 4 ****** are as low as you can gear
I would not go with any thing but the 3.7 in a rig as heavy as the KJ

I had my doubts about how well the 2.0T would do in the VW Tiguan
that we just got my wife
well I was very wrong
the 4 ****** in the KJ makes 50 less hp and the KJ weighs nearly 1000# more

Yes, that was exactly my point. But it seems there's no such problem (at least with the stock tires on).

also dont put any thing on the roof ,wind drag
dont try to tow any thing
dont put a lot of weight in it
and you should be fine
basically it is for A to B transportation and nothing else

There was only one KJ 2.4 in the city and I just learnt that it is sold... Hard to find another one, because there are only 76 of them in the whole country..

Perhaps it's better this way.. Now 3.7 is the way to go.

No...so wrong! ;)

Get a diesel. ('02-'04 2.5/2.8CRD) Since you are in Turkey you will have no issues what so ever since we get the good stuff. Biggest problem for the KJ CRD was the low grade fuel they use in the States.

Mine now has done 150.000Km and still running like it was new....:p Look for an Extreme Sport CRD...those are very nice!

You must be registered for see images

btw: Don't even think about a 2.4 gasser.

I wish I had a diesel!
But the 3.7 litre V6 is nice to have as well!
I couldn't imagine a 2.4 litre Four ******!(blarg)
Chrysler should of never offered a 4 cylinder in a Liberty.
The 3.7 litre should of been the base engine and a 4.7 litre should
of been the other power plant option in addition to the Diesel engine.

They were going to offer the 4.7. They had a test one built with it, and when it was crash tested, the engine came into the passenger compartment...

Don't even think about buying a 2.4? :(is it really so bad:((
because of the engine size based high taxes, it is the nly KJ I can deal with right now.

Just found one, 2006, 34.000 km. And I was thinking of buying it right away:(

The only 4 cylinder engine offered for a '06 KJ was the CRD.The gas 2.4 I-4 went bye-bye in '05.

The owner of the jeep says it's a 2006 2.4.
Is it so bad, the 2.4? As I said it's the only KJ here with affordable taxes.
If I don't buy this, my other option is suzuki grand vitara BTW.

2.4 KJ vs Suzuki Vitara...wow...

Would definitely take the KJ. The Vitara seems even less gutsy than the 2.4 KJ ITBJHO
