Are they made straight or have a downward angle?

??
The area that the ball joint sits is angled more, they are also just a bit longer
but made straight ??
As far as downward angle, well depends on if they are laying on your kitchen table, on a 2.5 or 4.5 inch lift

Yea, was curious if JBA made them to compensate for the lift. UCA's and LCA's should be at same angle for proper geometry of suspension and tire travel. Flat though, ok thanks!

It makes everything work together
A mechanical engineer first came up with them ( his name was Al ) then Marlin owner of JBA who is also an engineer etc fine tuned them and has them
So yes they are correct and work well
I have installed 50 some sets of them, plus have over 180,000 miles on them in my two KJs . Have even watched them being made, so your concerns , well shouldn't be a concern at all

Yes, the JBA UCA's for lifted Jeeps are angled different at the bj area, and longer as Tom said, to compensate for the lift.

The 4.5's add strength & are a necessity once you have a decent suspension lift, and will make the alignment way better.
Even with a bit of (conduit) clevis lift & OME coils, your chance of the stock upper control arms making spring contact are almost guaranteed.
You wont have any spring contact with the 4.5's installed.

Its not a question of a decent lift, or better alignment. the KJ's suspension becomes un-alignable (camber) at a certain amount of lift (2"-3" range; varies). Thus needing corrected arms to get back in range of what the cam bolts can adjust for.

I think corrected arms are worth it as soon as you have enough lift to accommodate them. Still on the first set of Moog balljoints ~80,000km later.
