Somewhere between being sane and insane!
A Jeep Trail Rated® badge is found on all 4x4s that pass a series of grueling tests designed to proved off-road capability on the world’s most demanding terrain.

There are five main categories of testing:

* Traction
* Ground Clearance
* Water Fording
* Maneuverability
* Articulation
Well let's see...........

*Traction-sure a 4wd has more traction,now a open/open 4wd has just a slight advantage in light wheeling over a locked 2wd.
*Ground clearance-a 2wd KJ may have a slight advantage due to less weight but is no less then a 4wd KJ,you can lift a 2wd KJ higher then a 4wd KJ(with IFS intact).
*Water fording--same between 2wd and 4wd
*Maneuverability-same between 2wd and 4wd,same steering between the 2
*Articulation-again the same between 2wd and 4wd,same suspension between the 2

Not much of a difference besides traction,just saying.

Oh and besides the fact that the trail rated badge did not appear till '04 does it make '03 and older Jeeps not trail rated?Oh and the KJ was the last Jeep to actually run the Rubicon in stock form before it's release though rumors have it the '10 Grand has done the Rubicon also.

Your observations matters not. Only 4x4s were trail rated is the point and proven. NO 2x4s.... period.

Once again you miss the point. THERE WERE NO TRAIL RATED STICKERS AVAILABLE FOR '03 AND OLDER. Might be why your '03 didn't come with 'em. Your answer: yeah, without the badges they aren't Trail Rated.

Oh and the KJ was the last Jeep to actually run the Rubicon in stock form before it's release though rumors have it the '10 Grand has done the Rubicon also.

Might be the last but it wasn't the first or the only.

Just sayin.;)

^^^^^Come on guys. Badges don't make the drivetrain or change the capabilities of any vehicle. We all know that.

BTT.......is the Renne worth the extra $$$$$ or should we maybe close the thread????

Dave

Badges do nothing BUT what the vehicle must do to earn them ....
* Traction
* Ground Clearance
* Water Fording
* Maneuverability
* Articulation
does change/prove the capabilities.

Mine earned it's badge.(bowdown)
