As many of you may know ive had a nasty clunk on my driverside. Everything seems tight. The last thing i checked was the axel. in the video you see the play that it has with the lower balljoint disconnected and the tierod disconnected. The passenger axel does not have this amount of play and dosnt sound like this. Do i need to replace this axel? The loud noise is from the axel inside the boot. is this the noise i hear over every bump

Here is the driverside

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
The inner "C" clip broke, you need to pull the shaft and replace the "C" clip.Dealer item and about $5 each. You will also need to pull the front diff cover and find the broken "C" clip so it will not destroy the gears.

The clip looks like the ones in the pic below, but not pink since the passengerside "C" clips are pink and the drivers side is black.

To fish out the broken pieces of that "C" clip,if left in in the diff it can ruin your gear set and that's a big repair bill since it's 6 hours labor alone to R&I the front diff alone.

The same thing happened to my passenger side CV,though the clip did not fall off but lost it's ability to keep the CV firmly seated in the diff.
