I've had a low speed clunk in my front end at times and finally checked on a lift at work today. I can move the right inner cv up/down about 1/2" or more so just ordered a shaft and will be getting a cv probably from napa. Anything else I need like seals?
If the shaft doesn't come out with the cv can it still be removed easily?
Should have parts here by Monday.

You can pull the CV and Intermediate shaft out all together
If they are worn/rusted they'll be almost welded together

Where did you guys get your intermediate shafts from? I have found it one place online (for $150), but can't seem to find it through my normal part sources.

Ah,
you're talking about the front driveshaft I assume
They are talking about the right side CV and Intermediate shaft
BUT yes you can pull the front driveshaft out and drive without it

Finally installed my axle and intermediate shaft yesterday. All went smooth. The shaft came right out with the axle and will not come apart. So far my 45 mph drone is gone and no knocking through the floor :)

Sorry to bump this old thread but wanted to ask the OP and others - so the shaft may come right on out with the axle, my question is was it a tough removal or was a pry bar enough to pull the axle and shaft? The Chilton's makes it sound like it's going to take a slide hammer to get the shaft out, so I am trying to be prepared for when I do this late this week. Also, for the reinstall, did you require any additional parts, like the C-clips?

Cheers,
Jamie

just had this issue yesterday ... If it (int. shaft) stays in .. remove the clip and use that groove and a pry bar .. it will pop out.

Thanks to YC (Jayme) for the tip!

If it is attached to the CV/half shaft it is much easier ... just pull ... no tools needed.

C-clips will be on the intermediate shaft - no additional purchase necessary.

Thanks guys! Shaft is on order and will be here Wednesday, right hand side CV axle will be picked up today. Looking forward to hopefully finishing up this project by the weekend!
