just put a valve in the intake incase of sucking in SMALL bits of water
Amsoil filters are better but having it in the grill is like having a straw
sent from my EVO 3D
I have the black K&N filter. Makes the engine sound deeper and more throaty. Also has quiet whistle. It is very loud when first started and when the hood is up. I wouldnt worry about sucking in water unless you like to drive in lakes. I have driven in water up to the bumper and had no problems. Plus it made my gas milage go up 3mpgs.
was looking at the ones on ebay.. anyone think the "dual intake" ones would give any extra performance?
or just grab these?
Ron, I do not believe the y-pipe intake provides any benefit to a traditional intake (either the stock box or a single tube design). If you really like the looks of it I don't see the harm since iirc, the KJ doesn't have a MAF sensor in the intake.
you should try to box it off, otherwise you're pulling in hot air from the engine bay. which is actually hurting you
NO performance gains from the Y piping, will just suck in more hot air which is not what you want
The computer will allow only so much and the stock set up provides plenty
Only thing you get with the CAI intake is more hot air and noise
But he's after "more noise" Tom!
but thats about like putting a pair of socks down the front of your pants before a first date
when it comes time its not going to do ya much good :happy175:
Run PVC pipe from your throttle body to under the drivers seat. That should give you the desired effect. Oh, dont forget to put a tooth brush in it for a filter.
Oh and I forgot, try not to fart too much or it will take away a few MPGs
IMO, get the Y pipe, put some elbows on it , cut some ovals in the hood and mount the air filters so they stick up through the hood
or enclose the filters in resonator boxing and tube it up through the hood with 2 snorkel tophats.....
if you want cold air, get cold air but you aren't going to find it under the hood
yep get one of those Y Pipe jobbers
they are well
i like my air coming right off the manifold
like i said, anyone wants to cut two holes in their hood I got about 20' of 8" stainless ill cut for ya lol...
Well since I already have two holes in my hood..................:happy175:
up and out then i'm sure you can either make or find cheaply some snork tophats
or if ya ask real nicely I'll build you some cowl scoops
By the way that "was" Wildman Larrys setup !
Whats with the "Cement Slurry"
lemme guess the hood was up to wash off/out the engine, replace the tensioner, alternator and elec fan?
He found a mud hole the ATVs had been using to play in and had to see how fast he could go through for "photo" purposes
This was at the end of the day he finally checked it, and wash/replace nah he just drove it home that way
lol, still looks like slurry to me
mud here is either red.. or black lol
Thats good old Kentucky mud!!
But I agree with you it does look like slurry!:happy175:
