when standing still at idle there's getting a groaning noise coming from under my Jeep whenever I put it into gear. Like the description says, the noise stops when the transmission is shifted into neutral or park. It then goes away after the car warms up or whenever i accelerate.

I'm going to pull the transmission out just to look around and torque stuff up, do you guys have any ideas to what I should be looking for?

I'm thinking its a bearing or flex plate, definitely not the torque converter. But to be honest i've never seen an open transmission before so i have no idea what im doing.

Before you pull anything. Have you checked the rear cv (t case side) on the front driveshaft?

No, but the noise is going on when im just standing not moving so i thought i'd factor out the driveshafts. Forgot to mention that part sorry. Im just standing in a spot no moving.

Had people bring in vehicles before with similar complaints and it was the brakes not the Trans. Are you sure it's the trana and not something else.

I'm not a mechanic but yeah i think so. I was under the car while a buddy of mine was shifting and the noise is coming from that area by the t-case and bell housing.

Few different causes but basically brakes were hung up and pads of shoes were growning when in gear. Bad park brake cable, bad wheel cylinder, bad caliper, bad rotor, broken brake pad or shoe things like that.

Hi,

I believe that I have same problem.
If the gear box ar in N or P possition, it's OK; but if I put on D, R, 1 or 2 jeep start vibrating.

Could it be bad engine mounts? Something in the exhaust vibrating?

Could of things different between p and d. The engine is under torque thus causing it to rotate some(bad mounts including ******).

Its under torque which causes the engine to strain some, anything loose on the exhaust is going to rattle.

When in park or n, isnt both halves of the torque spinning? In d the ****** side spins when your moving?
