Nice rock rails you have.

My OEM drivers side rock rail. At least it saved the jeep but that's all.

Yeah,Dave,if you had nothing that woulda been a mess.

Yeah, I know. The rail took a beating, but no other damage. So I guess it did it's job. I was lucky, and can't complain. I try to be careful and don't wheel as hard as some do but sometimes crap happens. I am not lifted so that's part of the problem.......guess I need a lift, better rails, bigger tires, etc.....haha

The aftermarket rails like the ones you have are heavier and have a third support in the center which helps a lot. The OEM Renne rails (which are the ones I have) are not as heavy duty and do not have a center support. I guess they provide a minimum of protection and are better than nothing.

I have similar on my stock `05 Renegade. In similar condition after a close encounter with some rocks, too! I'll post a pic if I get a chance.

They saved my door though, so I can't complain.

Besides, a friend once told me, "Chicks dig body damage!" :D

I'm pretty sure mine would be less than happy if I came home with the bumper in the back...

This is why y'all need women that are so exasperated with you that they just roll their eyes and sigh and don't bother saying anything :D

question, Im debating step bars or rock rails, do the step bars act as a protector from the truck exterior? or no?

Generally, running boards are for looks only...

I'd get a set of rock rails that stick out a good bit, maybe bedline them, and that should function as a running board as well...
