Well, thats why I'm gonna stick with 245/75's until i can afford a locker and a gear upgrade so I won't be getting 265's for a WHILE and eventually I want to add the ARB Bull Bar with a Warn 9K so I'm really just planning ahead and making things easier on myself. Because with this lift I could slap on the ARB as soon as I get the money. Where with wasting my money on medium coils and not replacing my already worn out shocks and struts, I would have to upgrade to HD coils and swap to new shocks and struts. And with this lift, I can do a gear and locker upgrade as soon as I get the cash and immediately be ready for 265's, where I would have to replace the shocks and struts just like the ARB and probably upgrade to HD coils if using medium coils and stock shocks and struts. Which I would probably lose money doing because no one is going to want my used mediums, so I wasted my money on them. So I feel confident that my plan will save me time money and a headache later on down the road...
way to much thought
I put the med coils on the wifes KJ with Rancho struts and OME shocks
out back
that was 30K+ miles ago and still going good ,really pushing 40K
if I want to run an ARB bumper then I could with med coils and still fit the same 245/75's
or for right around $300 I could up grade to HD coils AND new struts
the rear is still good ,though I would go with new shocks out back
you are planing for things much much to far out
and trust me with a Jeep you simply can not do that
what you are looking at doing will end up costing in the $5K range
just in mods
is the KJ worth that?
how many miles on it now?
will it last you long enough to justify that kind of investment?
will you keep it that long?
I know me and I get board with a plan and change it often
some time while I am in the middle of working on the Jeep
take my situation right now
I just got a Kilby skid for the TJ ,great deal only $120 in good shape no dents, and I gain 1" of clearance under the fuel tank
problem is I have a hitch that hangs to low to justify even putting the skid on ,so what now?
I can get a new bumper for under $150 with mounts for shackles and a hitch
or I can go with no bumper and only some frame mounted hooks
problem there is I will end up ripping off my spare
maybe a very cheep bumper and hooks? I have that
see what I mean
Get it lifted
OME HD coils
Rancho struts and shocks
and "build on that"
This will get you what you want right now and can be added to
