I swapped out the sway bar bushings for another set that I think was good (replaced them erroneously, they have about 7 months of wear on them) and it's still there. Would a new set of bushings be worth it or could it be something else?

Disconnected the sway bar and it was still there. I think I narrowed it down to the driver's side shock boot. With someone pushing the Jeep up and down, I noticed the noise happened when the shock would rebound, the boot would stay put and then catch up a second later and make the noise. There's scrapes on the shock as well. Could that make that noise in the vid?

Took the front shock boots off and the noise is still there. Any ideas? This noise is driving me crazy.

Damn that's a terrible sound.

It's definitely some kind of metal scraping imo.

It's just the one side?

Yeah. It sounds like its some rubber on metal. Goes away if it's warmer out or it's been driven for a few miles.

Do you think it might be one of the other boots? Cv or control arm?

There's so many damn pieces that move wth the suspension, I've got my wheels and brakes off now seeing if anything else sticks out in my head

I don't see how it could be a CV joint. I'm going to retry taking the sway bar off because I'm thinking that when I took the bolts out it was still moving just based off of friction.

Yeah, this one is tricky haha. Thanks for the help.

Sounds good let me know if you find it! Liberty #1 is so rusted I won't be surprised if the same happens in the future

Is that back LCA bolt/bushing slapping around? Appears to be but hard to see it.

Never mind, the light playing with my eyes. That's the inner CV boot.

Found it. There's something near the top plate making the noise. What's rubber in that area? I sprayed that area down with soapy water and it stopped.

Silly question but where's the top plate?

I can look at mine before the wheels go on tonight.

Thought I answered last night but???
If in that area only a couple of things it could be
One the isos are torn / worn out and causing a rubbing sound
or two the shock nut was not tightened down far enough letting the shock move around somewhat.
Other than that not much else there really
I assume the top nuts are tight

Are there plates there by default or something only added after market?

Well you have your top mounting plate that mounts to the body and shock bolts to it, then you have an aftermarket top plate that gives you the lift
This is a blown apart Frankenlift but the parts are almost the same
bottom left side is the very top piece. Stock looks different though since its more or less flat compared to the Franky one shown here
shock goes up through this part with bushings on both sides of course

This was a Muddified version of the Frankenlift using gasser parts and OME 790 (OME CRD) springs

In the video it sounds like mattress springs. What you got going on there, son? :shakehead:

You did respond, I just forgot to update this thread in case anyone ever needs the help. Thanks!

So the only rubber in that region is the isolator. I checked the 4 top nuts, didn't take the assembly out to check the shock nut. I'm assuming that's tight as it hasn't been messed with in 1.5 years, and a worn isolator is probably more likely.

If the Jeep is a rockin don't come a knockin :mwah1:

How bad would it be to spray the upper isolator down with silicone spray?

With the noise you have going on, I'd recommend Astroglide. :happy175:

(I'm really messing up your thread, aren't I?) :sorrysign:
