I'm on the hunt for 4.10s for my 05 with 3 wire abs. Questions; if i find one with drum brakes my discs can be swapped to that axle if needed? If i find one without abs it still has the speed sensor in the pumpkin, I imagine that means it has a similar tone ring, or will the tone ring need swapped? Thanks in advance!

Well, I've been to every yard in my area looked at somewhere between 30-40 jeeps, 14 just today, not one is a 4 cylinder. Looks like some more phone calls and a road trip in the future, closest prospect is 170 miles away now.

Indeed it is, finding the time for the road trip is the hatd part. Too many irons in the fire.
Yes know what ya mean
I lost one set that way and they were free !
Guy had them both out ready to go, couldn't sell them ( wanted 1000 for the set , so way too much ) so finally said if I could come and get them they were mine
5 hour road trip one way just wasn't in the cards for two weeks and he sent them to junk yard :(

What's the going rate for a front and rear diff at the wrecking yard these days? Any ideas?

You KJ guys are lucky to have 4.10 diffs you can just swap in, even if they are harder to find these days than they used to be. No such thing out there for the KK. Wish there was!

No idea at all
Grabbed one rear diff a few years ago from a yard 2 miles from me when I lived in Columbus
Paid 190 for it , they had it a few years and wanted rid of it , said it must of been an odd ball since KJs never came with 4.10s
Didn't argue the point just paid and waved
I think 2bobs paid 250 for his rear diff , I picked it up for him, but cant remember for sure

I’ve been searching for almost a year. They are pretty rare these days.

4.10 diffs!
You know it! You maybe can't tell from the picture but the rear axle housing is bent (both came out of a rolled '04) and since the front is just a diff not a complete axle I was able to talk the yard down to about $100 each. I plan to have the rear r&p put into my axle housing with a fresh set of clutches in the trak-lok and I think I'm gonna give the spartan helical diff a try in the front as soon as funds and the boss/book keeper/Sugar Mamma/Wife permits. She's the best! We drove almost 4 hours to spend a few hours at a junk yard pulling these out. I almost have her admitting it was fun.

Well that's cheered me up a bit, 'cos the front diff I got a couple of weeks ago was £50 + £30 shipping (say $90 @ current rate of exchange). True that's for a 3.73 but, I suspect they are rarer here, where most are diesels.

& I needed cheering up, as another weekend's passed with me not feeling up to tackling the job - or doing much at all, really. :(

Hopefully this link works. Tore down new to me axles. Rings and pinions look good. Checked pattern and rotation torque on front. Pattern looked good, but rotation was too light except for one sticky spot. Bearings didn't look horrible on pinion but aren't shiny either. Spartan Helical is on the way, but so is family summer road trip so it will be a while. Didn't check anything on rear axle except gear condition. Disassembly was actually a bit of a struggle because of bent housing. Carrier pin had to be pryed and tapped out as did the axles because of the stess on carrier. Now that it's out pin slides freely in carrier. Still glad I'm not using it.
