I can't seem to find a factory ****** skid for the 04 and older libertys. the skids I can find are a transfer case skid and a fuel tank one. Will the 05 and newer stuff work at all? I have found stuff made by skid row but its pricey, I will still go that route but the factory stuff seems to be a tad cheaper.:)

Yeah what he said :p

I have an 04 Libby and I discovered a similar problem. Just buy a skid plate from a similar year and drill out the required holes.

dude we have the same vehicles almost lol

was there a lot of drilling involved?

I think you just need to drill holes in the transmission cross member. 05 and later models have the bolts go in the two holes on the bottom of the front skid where they meet. The 04 and earlier bolt into one of those holes and a different one. SO, as I see it without a mod only one bolt will attach the ****** skid to where the fro t skid is. That hole on my 04 does not have threads. It's hard to explain. Hope I didn't confuse you. If I'm wrong of couse someone is more than welcome to correct me.

I got what you need bro.
****** skid with a pre drilled hole in the rear already. I had it on my '02.
You'll need washers or it'll hit the exhaust and make you think your transmission is going out. eek2.gif

$40+shipping. :D

I like the offer but then I wouldn't be able to use my new dewalt drill :p lol

Wow, a used transmission skid for the price of a new one

Just FYI, an '03-4 needs different holes drilled in it than a 45RFE KJ does, so the holes being drilled aren't exactly a selling point.

yep, the transmission cross member is different on the 42. I called and our local Jeep dealer has them for 54.40, which is msrp. I might just go get one and see how it goes.

here's a link to a post which has pictures. It looks like this guy just left out the bolt I'm talking about. You can see he only has one bolt fastening the front of the skid. Not something I would want. There's other ways to get a bolt there but I'm unsure how. you can tell he has a 45 ****** too because the crossmember is U shaped. KJs with the 42 are straight across.
