My dealer has never rotated my tires!. . . . I don't think you need your tires rotated every 3,000 miles. . . .

That depends on the tires you have,my tires need to be rotated at least every 3000 miles to last.Those of you with the select trac t-case should have your tires rotated every 3000 miles if you use the full time option alot and any vehicle that is AWD must have there tires rotated very often to prevent major issues with the driveline.I don't think you need your tires rotated every 3,000 miles.

You'd cringe over my maintance schedule,but no major failurs due to lack of maintance.I had to attend some classes for my new job and some of the info was stagering,there is about 45 billion dollars of PM maintence not done to US vehicles every year,sounds like alot HUH? Well that 45 billion of not done maintance turns into 75 billion in major repairs.That statement "Preventive Maintance is less costly then reapairs" is very,very true.If you were me and saw what I saw on a daily basis you'd be shocked,a persons vehicle is is ussually the 2nd biggest,if not the biggest, investment and they want the absolute cheapest or no maintance done to it,it's rather a dispointment and boy do they get mad at that $2000+ repair bill when less then $500 spread over 2-5 years could have prevented that one big repair bill.Sure this all does make me money,but that is my choosen trade and kinda now what I'm talking about from doing this for over 13 years professionally.
Now you don't need the best lubricants,just a good brand and don't skimp on the other services.Not all of us mechanics are crooks and do care and only recommend needed and suggested services.

Preventative maintenance, Hah! The dealer does not even do half of the stuff they say they do. You go in for a brake job, they mess it up even more and find a way to cover themselves, they use cheaper stuff..
I would have to say, stick to manual during first 6 years, maybe 5, after that get those stuff done at somewhere else. My dealer(s) never even rotated the tires once. They said they do, but never did it once. For the amount they charge, the job they do is generally less than half of that. Honestly, if it was a great mechanic, friendly and honest, i wouldn't care less, well worth it, do your job and you deserve it. But dealers, the mechanic there could care less.. (most of the time).
You go in for an oil change, they will try to rip you off with differential, t-case, ******, brake, battery and fuel injection jobs.
Different coolant.Your XJ had the older green coolant which needs to be changed every 2 years.The coolant in all 2001+ Chrysler vehicles is supposed to be good for 5 years/150,000miles,though If changed mine twice already in 7 years and 65,000miles.Wanna know what I can't figure out?
Before my Libby, I had a '98 Jeep Cherokee Sport (2WD). Since it didn't come with the towing package, my guess is it didn't have a heavy duty radiator or cooling system. Anyway, I had the coolant service done at 48k miles. I was supposed to do it again at 96k, but never got around to it. When I got to around 111k, I started having cooling problems. I don't want to go into details, but I'll say the cost to fix the cooling problems simply weren't worth it. I traded it in on my Libby.
IIRC, my Libby's owner's manual indicates the first cooling service isn't until 99k. That's more than twice as many miles as my Cherokee. Why is this? My Libby came with the towing package from the factory, but to my knowledge, it doesn't have a heavy-duty cooling system.
