Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum. Own a 2002 Liberty Limited with 98K. Over the summer I had the brakes replaced (including rotors). The brakes squeaked since then, I sent it back to them 3 times and most of the squeaking is gone, however, even more concerning is this loud "screech" that happens sometimes when I brake hard(but not crazy hard). I told the repair shop about this and since it doesn't happen all the time, they haven't been able to reproduce it. It sounds like I am slamming on the brakes really hard when i'm not. It seems to be coming from the front brakes, maybe from the drivers side, but I'm not 100% sure. When the screeching occurs the car stops suddenly as if I did slam on the brakes. I did not have this issue before the brakes were replaced. Any ideas as to what might be wrong, so I can have the repair shop check it out? The Jeep does have ABS.

Thanks!

If you didn't have this issue before then it is probably the brake pads. There are different pads made of different materials (and all different prices). This is my guess from what you said.

I just changed mine and bought NAPA Ultra Premium pads and have about 1,000 miles on them with no issues.

Welcome to the forum Nancy.
