I do alot of sneaking around in my KJ whether it be toilet papering a friends house for fun or whatever, I need to put a kill switch on my break lights and dome lights. I'm just gonna put a power switch for each under the dash, I just need to know where the main power lead for both of these is... Does anyone know?

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
The interior lights can be turned off by pulling a fuse.As far as the brake lights(besides being illegal) can lead to more problems if not done right. You will have to tap into the brake light wires at the bulbs themselfs,do not tap into the brake light switch on the brake pedal otherwise you will not be able to get it out of park and by some chance if your driving down the road with cruise on it will not disengage with tapping the brake pedal.

So I could just figure out the fuse and put a switch on that wire?

Well, thats kinda what I was planning to do about the brakes would I have to do the each individual light? Each side and the 3rd brake light? or is there one main wire I could tap into?

Don't go cutting into the Factory wiring!

Cutting wires to integrate a "Kill Switch" for your brake lights?
It's not worth it Weston!

That one time you might get side tracked and forget to switch them to operational and you get pulled over by the fuzz...
I wouldn't particularly look foreward having to explain to a cop why I have a Brake light cut out switch fitted!

You know how Police can be!

Especially the short cops who already have a inferior complex or suffer from little man disorder!:D

Ok, so today I whipped out the owners manual and flipped to the fuse panel page to see what fuse worked the interior lights. What I found was that the fuse that ran the interior lights also ran other things like the radio. So that immediately changed my mind because I didn't want to shut my radio off all the time either. So, while still reading what all the fuses were for I saw "Stop Lights" in the description of slot 13. So I decided to test it and took the fuse out and ran a couple of small jumpers to a switch and pushed my tool bag down on the brake pedal and walked around the back, they were off!

So, I cut some longer wire and put a small glass fuse in on wire and hooked them both to the switch and plugged them into where the original fuse goes then hid the switch under the dash next to the kick panel.

Plugged the wires in slot 13

Put a fuse in to keep it safe

Plugged up to a 2 prong non-illuminated switch

Tucked the switch away and turned it "ON"

Placed my tool bag on the brake pedal

Brake lights lit up

Turned the switch "OFF"

With the bag still on the pedal, the lights did not light up!

Now, I checked to make sure it would still shift into drive and would still shut off the cruise so it is fine and was really easy! I know ya'll will say what if I forget to turn it back on then get on the road and so I decided I'm going to get a small LED and mount it where it is visible when lit. Then get a re-directing switch to where when in the off position it will send power to the LED, and when in the on position it will send power to the brake lights!
