Took it back to the dealer this morning. They offered to buy it back for what we paid. That's fine, but means we're out $1500 they allotted us for our trade-in vehicle, so we're still getting screwed.

I'm not willing to take that much of a loss on this thing since they are the ones who sold me a bad vehicle.

Very frustrating.

This is a small town and word WILL get around about me getting screwed.

I actually work as an Admissions manager at the local hospital so I come in contact with a LOT of people.

I'm going to call the attorney general's office and see where that goes.

I don't feel that I should take a loss here. They should null-and-void the paperwork and cut me a check for my trade in since they already sold the car.

I don't want to bring up an old thread, but I just wanted to let everyone know that we finally got our '06 KJ fixed.

It turned out to be a defective BCM apparently. We haven't had anymore problems with the Jeep since they dealer changed the BCM almost two months ago.

The dealer said it was a "soft code".

I'm just glad it got fixed.

Good to hear that all is well with your second Liberty.
I went through so much Chrysler induced drama with a Brand new (43km on the Odometer, 9 of which I drove!) Dodge Neon that left me stranded on the second day of ownership.
It was only when I told the owner "Bob Binkley" that if they didn't fix or give me a new car that I'd douse the Neon and him in Gasoline, drive it through the front display windows and NUKE his whole Stealership with him in it. Not to mention the local attention I got from several T.V. and Newspapers. That too helped!
To this day I will bad mouth the former "Bob Binkley" Stealership!
Now his ugly daughter runs this flea bag, fly by night, $h T hole Stealership!
The day I read his obituary in the paper I'll be happy!
He has rippped off so many of my friends and family members it's not funny.

36/3 are normal factory warranties. I got a recertified 8/80 on my 06. Depending on when it was sold in 06, it can still be under then 36/3 MFR warranty. If it was sold on, or before this posts day, it would be out of MFR warranty.

I'll also echo the comment that "Thank God it's fixed". We've all been following this problem for seven pages of replies.

I service diagnostic equipment for a living and the equipment like our cars used to breakdown in the following order;
- mechanically
- electrically (wiring)
- electronically (switches/sensors)

Now with the modern age equipment & cars breakdown in the following order;
- software (PCM's and that damn Windoze )
- mechanically
- electrically (wiring)
- electronically (switches/sensors)

I suspect that if your KJ was serviced by a Jeep dealership they would have recognized the problem sooner or would have simply swapped out the PCM to eliminate it. It's far easier to do than replace a head gasket.

What does a BCM have to do with CELs and engines? You sure you didn't mean PCM?

Glad it's fixed though?

Nope. BCM.

They told me it was a "soft code". Whatever that means. I'm guessing it's like a software glitch. Idk? Maybe someone can clarify that for me.

When I got a VIP report it showed the BCM as the only thing being changed.

Just got to be a simple thing. Spark plug, coil pak, bad gas.

Did it run ok?

It's been to three different Jeep dealers.

I think the one Jeep dealer actually did the TSB. They pulled the head off, sent it out to a machine shop for inspection, and reinstalled.

The engine has a noticable rattle upon cold start up. It's not the normal 3.7L tick, it's a rattle.

The dealer refuses to take the vehicle back. They will only take it back as a trade in, in which case I lose money. That's not going to happen.

Sell it privately or trade it in and do yourself a favour.
GET RID OF IT!

Reminds me of my 1994 Dodge Neon.
40Km on the clock and it died.
Brought it back and well, long story short; I threatened to drive it through the showroom window and set the F CKIN thing on fire.
Suddenly, a day later they fixed it.
Now, every vehicle I drive has a bumper sticker that I made up saying no "Never buy a vehicle from Bob Binkley Chrysler's stealership!
I sure hope it is one of the Chrysler dealerships that Chrysler decides to close down.
If that happens, I'll be there clapping my hands and letting those **** bags know that they can't rip off people like my mom and dad, sister, and me and countless other customers any longer!
I look forward to that day!
