A/C not working

A/C is not working compressor not turning on, does anyone know what's involved in fixing it

first is there refrigerat in the system? then is there the proper amont in it? jump out the low presher control if it comes on the ur low on gas. put R134-a in a little at a time with the truck running when the compressor come on then give it a a bit the see how it works going down the road. do this till u have good cool air. do not but to much in or it will go off on high head presher.
