4x4 issue

Hello I have a2002 kj when I use fourwheel high it makes a loud popping noise especially going up inclines any info would be great THANX

Is it after you engauge 4wd or during? What surfaces are you driving on? It could be the 4wd engauging or driveline bind based on limited info.

Sorry its after I engage 4x4 and on even surface w incline

I meant pavement, snow, gravel, etc...

Are you moving when you engage it?

Check the CV joint on the transfer case end of the front driveshaft.

Mine used to really rumble when it was torn but way more noticeable under load.

Its in the snow and doesn't matter if I engage while moving or stopped still makes loping noise
