I had to remove my daughters front drive shaft that has gone bad and as soon as I started loosening the 6 bolts from the front differential oil (smelled like 80-90)started to leak out the bolt holes and when I pulled the shaft out a pretty good amount pored out then stopped. Everything I have seen on the introweb shows there should be no fluid and you can drive without the shaft. Any clue how the fluid would get in there and should she drive it without the shaft?

you can drive in 2WD w/o the front drive shaft.
I'd check the front differential for the gear oil level before driving.

Not sure about the fluid. maybe a busted front diff pinion seal?
