I have yet to see an argument...

... only people expressing their opinions of what they like/don't like. You like ABS/ESP - that's awesome - for you. I don't - that's me.

Differing opinions are part of what makes life interesting, right? ;)

Cha Ching! .. We have a winner!

As opposed to how you spell it when one takes things personally ... ie whiner ;)

You've gotten pissed because you made the same mistake Geeky was about to make. Taking things personally.

Props to Geeky for not going over that line .. and props to you Mag for bein' a good boy lately! ;)

I will say this
with my limited knowledge of snow driving ,I live in south Louisiana
good tires will go a LONG way
our KJ had NO ESP/TC of any type it did have ABS and I did like that
I drove a JK with all the ESP/TC and it is fun on good dry ground ,it will drive the Jeep
forward even on only 2 wheels but it SUCKED when the ground was wet
it would move a little then slow then move then slow
our KJ we could just easy on the gas and drive right on through
I have heard that the ESP/TC does the same thing in the rain ,
which if I am trying to pull out in traffic the last thing I want is the car to decide that it needs to slow me down
because it can not see the on coming traffic
This was a hold back on the VW so I did my home work
I went and drove one in the rain and yeah when you mash the gas in the rain the dash
lights up like a christmas tree but the car does go and go fairly fast

My point is that the different mfg.'s make different systems some work better than others
The TC in my TJ will work 100% of the time and there is not 1 situation where it will
ever cut power nor let a wheel spin if I am giving it gas
that is some TC
ARB front Detroit out back ,100% traction 100% of the time ,as long as I put it in 4wd
and flip the switch

I don't care one way or the other about ABS. Every car I have had thus far in life has had ABS and it hasn't caused any problems. The van and two cars I had previous to the Jeep made it through Michigan winters with only a little slippin' here and there. Since I have never driven anything without ABS I can't really compare, but ABS doesn't seem horrible. Since I've had the Jeep though, the ESP kind of drives me nuts. It likes to kick on when its windy. It's nice when your doing 80 in the left lane and ESP kicks on and you can't do anything  I have almost been ran into a few times now.

tjkj2002: "ESP -- Worthless"

From Wikipedia: "According to IIHS and NHTSA, one-third of fatal accidents could have been prevented by the technology" Also NHTSA has stated that "Sport utility vehicles with stability control are involved in 67% fewer accidents than SUVs without the system"

Maybe you’re not into all that safety stuff but I am.

I can drive fine I've never had an accident, but there are a lot of people out there who don't know how to drive.

Maybe it needs to be less about the systems and more about natural selection... lol3.gif :D
