With all respect to BillWill, putting a tune in the ECM is the LAST thing you should do as far as better fuel mileage - as in there are more important issues to be addressed as far as fuel mileage and needed maintenance - a tune should be the LAST step in that process.
THE #1 thing you can do to increase not only fuel mileage but performance and reliability as well - FUEL SUPPLY PUMP or "LIFT" PUMP!!!! Best option is the fuel tank module from a 2005-up Dodge Cummins with an Airtex in-tank fuel pump built in. No matter what type or brand you end up rigging up, it should be capable of supplying at least 8 psi or better pressure downstream of the fuel filter to get the most benefit.
Has anyone thought of regearing the final drive to a bit longer ratio, say 3.55?
still take my gasser and 16 around town and 21 highway :happy175:You CRD guys are so lucky. My gasser gets 12.5 mpg usually. if I drive mostly highway its like 13mpg
