'05 Libby really slow disengaging 4WD - what to check?

It often takes my '05 Limited a while to disengage 4WD after I've shifted the lever back into 2WD. I will often have to stop, go into neutral, then back into D, or even go into reverse for a few feet.

It never used to be like this, so what is the cause likely to be?

Check tire pressures, are the front tires both about the same wear or have you swapped one lately with the spare or rotated the tires? When was the last time you changed the fluid in the transfer case?

Seems like a lot of people have been experiencing this now that the weather brings out the use of the 4wd again.

improper disengagement
driving in 4wd get to about 5-10 mph going strait
slip trans to N
put t-case into 2wd
then trans back in D

the t-case is in a bind
by going to N you allow the input force to go away thus leaving only a rolling bind
which goes away when the T-case hits the N posiotion
