And now,.....Mr lfhoward is out making black marks up and down the road with all that extra power ;)

Pulling the ABS fuse in the engine bay, and I can peg leg my bitch all day. :D

Yes, it is a lot more reasonable conclusion to come to, that I don't have a cabin air filter, rather than that it is further over toward the center of the Jeep.

But, air flows all around down there and comes out all over the dash, so ...

That is quite a write up on LostJeeps. Probably more work than it is worth. For me at least.

Today I went over and got my trailer. 6 x 8 with wood floor and 4' ramp at the back. Just what I need to take the ATV to distant (but not too distant) mountain trails. There are quite a few around here.

Sort of snow and rain tho' so that may be a few weeks away, yet.

After snow season comes mud season, then nice and dry most of the summer. I have been on those mountain trails (roads) after 20 or more minutes of rain. They are steep, you see. And that means plenty of slipping and sliding, even if you do have 4 wheel drive. Not much fun with 100s and 1000 ft drop offs. Not bad in someone else's truck with trailer, tho'.

Got gas and checked the mileage. 21 mpg I get for this fill up.

That's looking more encouraging.

I did try to start it today and got dash lights, but no start. I had this a few times and just shut it off and redid it, and it started.

I'm not sure if it's too low voltage, or a glitch in the switch/key.

I did put the battery pack on it and it started. Alternator test shows 14.9 charging.

It was a cold wet night.

What is the best super battery for a KK? I may just have a cheap too small battery. It's new and clean looking, but I wonder what would be the best long lasting, sufficient power battery. Like oem. In my Honda car I use the Honda oem battery, and it runs it perfect for 7 years. As, it's a 7 year battery, then my practice is to just replace a battery if it has reached it's life, rather than having it go dead, and jumper cables and all that.

Which, since I have a super battery pack isn't a problem.

I would never, ever trust Haynes or Chiltons regarding most everything
Their research is so bad for most things , I would not trust them if they said a Liberty had 4 wheels on the ground really
Their are some good videos out that show exactly where the door is if you have one, and MtnLuvr’s shows if you do not exactly what to do
How could a filter behind the radio do anything as far as air coming into the heater vents,

I have been referring to Haynes, and Chilton's and also Clymer's for more than 50 years, and have found them right on the money on just about everything. Maybe once or twice not quite right. But very helpful for some mysteries. And too skimpy for everything.

But definitely worth the money, particularly when I was getting them from the public library and the cost of zero.

But even to buy them for whatever vehicle I had, wa worth it. Never as good as the factory manual, which I also always got, some of which were too technical.
dc

I never used them as a final authority, I always had to make my own final decision.

The group 34 battery is what should fit perfectly. Always look for the most (CCA) cold cranking amps possible. 800CCA for instance.
The best batteries are now what they call AGM or absorb glass mat. They are fully sealed, (won't corrode terminals) deep cycle, and have very long life.
Odyssey AGM is the best & most powerful. Northstar, Exide, Napa, Bosch, etc all make fine AGM batteries.
My Odyssey is 10 years old & still has 820 CCA still available at 72F. PC-1500 34/78 Dual terminal.

OH, not cheap. But I will pay that for the dependability.

But first I got to check for parasitic draw. Seems like I have quite a bit, but that may just be all the crazy options I have.

And then check for the state of the battery that I have.

Thanks

I didn't find the Odyssey battery to be that reliable. lasted less than 2 years in the car.

As far as batteries, I have ran Interstates for years, last 6 I have had all lasted 7-8 years at least
and I always get the biggest that will fit in the box ( be it XJ or KJ )
Lot of people trash them but they work for me

That's what I settled on. They last 5 winters and can be used longer in the summer. I haven't thrown one away yet since they still take a charge.

Thank goodness I do not have that ABS junk, but then with lockers, mine just hooks and goes !

I'm not going to say it's all terrible, but when you need it to sit down, shut up, and hang on, you can't tell it that... for now :D

I changed my interior lighting (overhead map and cargo lamps) to LED since the standard bulbs are so dim. Used CANBUS compatible LEDs I found on Amazon, and they turn on/off and fade out after the doors close just like they’re supposed to.

That's good that they work as they should
You don't have to share the numbers or company though LOL

Went to a gun show on Saturday and this happened:

The neat part is that I had to travel a fair way to get to the show. I knew I was going to turn over 100,000 so I kept an eye on it all the way. When I hit 99,999 I was out in farmland so I pulled over to get the first pic. A minute later I pulled over again to capture the magic moment. I guess the local farmers noticed me stopping twice since a bunch of them ran out of their house and began waving. They must have known I was coming back from the gun show because they even brought out their rifles and shotguns and were waving them around enthusiastically, along with nice remarks like "Want some of this?" and "How would you like some buckshot for the ride home?". It is really cool to meet fellow hobbyists when you least expect it!

In the past several days- I added the LED interior lighting from my previous post, cut and programmed a new key that I found out about through another Jeep owner forum, swapped my taillights to Renegade style, and finished the cosmetic upgrades to make my 2002 Limited into an “Overland” tribute inspired by the similar trim level offered on Grand Cherokees since the WJ generation.

Drove to work. 22 miles each way, but open country miles. Only one stop light along the way.

I'm beginning to like this Jeep. It hasn't let me down yet. Starts every time.

Can I get a link to the info about the key. I need to get one, and then see where or how I can program it.
Thanks
