Let me preface with I recently rebuilt the rear brakes and front driveshaft so the Jeep sat for about three weeks. Prior to this with daily driving, I never noticed any major leakage when parked etc. I did change the oil after the above work.

I started by inspecting the bottom engine, differential and transfer case. Quite a bit of grime and fresh oil drops. I checked the filter, it was firm, but I tightened a bit more anyway. It did not leak within the ten minutes of my inspection. It does seem to be coming from the front of the engine area.

I went to the store for Purple Power and Gunk Degreaser, same 10 mins, there's some drops in the parking lot. So I thoroughly cleaned the engine area and transmission, differential etc. I've added some UV dye, now it's a waiting game to try and isolate leak location.

Mind you this is fresh oil, I checked level and it's full. This was from overnight.

I drove to work, stayed 3 hours, no drops. I get home, park in the carport, 45mins later a few drops. When the sun goes down, the UV glasses and light come out.

Ok seems to be coming from the filter area. I"ll try a new filter after an inspection of the area and threads. But it did not crossthread, it spun on with ease as usual. Maybe there's a hole or defect with the filter.

Check the oil pressure sender, it's located right above the filter. It's pretty common for them to leak on the KJ.

i believe mine was leaking through the connector via the sensor so RTV and thread sealer would not have worked in my case.

That's a lot of oil leak. Mine wasn't that bad. I noticed it as there was oil around the connector and forming droplets.
