i feel like the jeep dealership is my next stop, and have them figure this out, cause at this point i think we are all a bit lost. ill update yall next time ive gatta fill up the oil so you can gauge how fast its going away, as well as an estimated mileage ive gone without filling. right now my oil is topped off, filled to the top of the safe zone.

interesting, I doubt the PCV is stuck open as the shake test says other wise, but I may be wrong. I was just under the KJ about an hour ago and didn't see a service/access panel. is the panel directly under the bell housing or is it off to one side? ive got an 02 3.7

I went from a quart every K down to almost nothing by replacing my PCV valve, and it passed the "shake test"
you also need to make sure the hose between PCV and intake manafold is not clogged

so i know the hose isnt clogged, but the pcv is only a month or two old, its only a $10 part so i guess buying another wouldnt be that big of a deal, the last one i bought was from amazon claiming to be a genuine mopar part, if you could link me the correct pcv you would buy that would be great, so from the last time i posted about my oil being topped off, im having to fill it up now as im an 1/8- 1/4 of the dipstick safe level left, ive gone roughly 250 miles, and having to top off my KJ again, ive found buying the 5 qrt bottle is easier than buying a quart at a time, better to have the oil ready to go then look for the nearest auto store and risk blowing the motor in a severe situation.

I just walked into Jeep dealer parts dept and paid cash. But that is a lot of oil your using, its going somewhere. leaking out or burning up.

My guess you have gotten to the point of no return in terms of engine wear. this meaning that the rings are worn as well as the block allowing for excessive blowby into the pcv system.

Is the air filter possibly soaked with oil? It could be one spot where the blow by could end up

If you take the oil fill cap off while its running, do you feel a lot of air being forced out? That's one way to check for a worn out engine.

Thats not what I wanna hear.. but im feeling like my rings are worn, i haven't had to put oil in since i filled it last, but i went from full to about 3/4 of the "safe zone" on the dipstick so its still going down just not as much.

This is what i wanna hear! Im ganna check right now.. so im getting absolutely no air Being forced out or in. When i put oil in last i had the motor running and it was sucking the oil in causing a slurping sound so im not thinking the motor is worn beyond use. I still need to do a compression test, i wanna say thatll tell me a lot

A compression test will tell you a lot about the overall health of an engine. Remember that you care less about what the readings are, and more that they are all within 10% of each other. Unless they're all really low, like low 100's psi or less.. that's pretty telling too. But also do it twice, where the second time you put a bit of oil into each cyl and test again.. see if the numbers increase.

Alright well i pulled my dipstick this morning and it was empty, so this is my filling time line, ive gone about 300 Miles and lost all my dipstick in oil, so not sure what that tells you guys other than roughly 1 quart every 100 miles with no leaks or noticeable smoke out the tail pipe, but after this filling, im going to baby the shit out of my Jeep and see if i see the same oil consumption. As of the past few weeks ive been at 4.5-6krpm very often lately so im thinking changing my driving conditions will Ultimately lessen my oil consumption.

I've only had my '02 for about two months now, but I doubt that I've hit 4000 rpm more than a few times and that would have been to get up to speed for merging onto the interstate. Of course I'm a few years older than you.

I've had my '03 for about as long as you've had yours, and ditto.

4.5-6K RPMs! Wowser.

If its losing that much oil you have a major issue no matter if you baby it or not , babying it may help a small amount but not sure it .

X2....................

I beat the snot out of my KJ,bounces off the rev limiter at almost every take off and I don't use any oil at all.

Granted I do my oil changes by time,every 6 months,and that's maybe 1000 miles.
