I managed to salvage a limited slip differential from a 2003 Renegade v6 manual trans.
I intend to put this carrier in our 2003 Limited Libby... 3.6 auto

I got the entire carrier and bearings + caps/adjusters.

My plan is to remove the ring gear and speedo ring currently in the jeep and transplant those from the open carrier once removed and thus keep the pinion and ring gears matched.
I believe the pinion depth should not need adjusting this way and only the lateral carrier adjustment should be required to attain proper pattern.

I plan to remove/inspect the clutch packs on the bench before I go for the install... Bearings appear great so I will just leave the ones on the carrier from the Renegade...

anyone see issues or have something to add I should pay attention to?

how much fluid to use + additive... I think 2 liters + 1 bottle of additive is going to fill it up...

Thanx

I would not bother taking it further apart, and leave the additive out.

After test driving it to get the oil circulated and warm, THEN decide if it needs additive. I haven't put additive in a used posi diff for over 25 years - as it tends to defeat the grip on a used unit.

Unless it's worn out, running without LSD oil will cause it to drag the clutches on every sharp turn causing more wear. I use Castrol LSD ready mixed oil in mine.

Have now gone 150,000km now without any additive. Still works nice and grabs tight when it's supposed to.

Your lucky, mine makes locks up on sharp turns on the road and makes a growling noise, I'm at 140,000 miles. It locks up nicely when needed.

Your lucky
Not really. Have done that with several other vehicles before to prove the theory.

Edit: still have a bottle of additive on my shelf in case I cross one that misbehaves and needs it.
