Who said the Germans don't have a sense of humour?

I suspect that's more of a reflection on their on-road presence than perceived arrogance of their owners (although that joke must pre-date the A-class)
During my working days I traveled to Germany many times for training on Hitachi Computers...also 2 trips to Japan! So I made a point of teaching myself German!
All this did for me was to confirm my suspicion that the Germans are the most arrogant and self-centered nation in the world! :rolleyes:

The Japanese on the other hand are the most helpful and friendly people!;)

Front drive shaft going back in with new boots & fresh grease. All the online writeups have you stripping the brakes, top and bottom ball joints & the steering ball joints, as you can see in the picture, that's not necessary.

I fixed my RF speaker that was rattling in the door. Turns out a previous owner put in after market speakers in one very loose self tapping screw was left, and at some point only had 2 total holding it in. I riveted it in 2 spots and have decided I want nee speakers that fit better and have better sound. I may stick with rivets in the future since they hold really well.

Not necessary, but in my opinion much easier to get that stuff out of the way. I prefer the more time less fight method rather than workarounds and battles, it's not a speed sport for me.

I like that you were able to do it this way. I have some front axle seals that need to go in, and I wasn’t looking forward to having to take every last thing apart to get to them. Although I may just do that, because I have a new steering rack that needs to go in as well.

I've replaced the cv axles both ways, it just makes it so easy with everything out of the way. I remove the knuckle, brake, and even the shock. Gives me lots of room to work and none of that is complicated. When I replaced my steering rack bushings it was ridiculously easy, but that's because I had the entire front suspension out as well as the front diff. Not saying I recommend that route...I just took the opportunity while in another evolving project.

Sounds good. If the Jeep can hold together until Christmas, I can do a bunch of stuff all at once over the break.

It is for me sadly, I'm always racing the weather this time of year, I have another Jeep in front of my workshop and another car inside so it's the luxury of laying on a damp drive.

Wondering if anyone has ever used the Spartan Helical LSD, which seems to be a competitor to the old reliable Detroit TrueTrac. It’s on sale for $280 right now for the D30 so I have to ask.

I don’t know. Would I be able to DIY the installation considering I have to reset the backlash, etc.?

I have a Torq locker for the rear end I haven’t installed yet. I know I can do that one myself.
