Anyone have experience or seen this online?
To clean the carbon buildup out of the cat.
I saw someone do this on youtube and the comments were flooded with people saying it worked and cleared their p0420 code and that they had a noticeable improvement in performance without replacing their cat.

I plan on replacing my cat, but I still would like to know about this as a temporary improvement until I do!

My main concern is, could seafoam destroy the metals or anything structural inside the cat? Or would it only eat the carbon buildup? TIA!

The OEM Cat converters are long lasting & designed to reach extremely high temperatures 1500+ degrees to burn off the byproducts.
Keeping the cats clean and code free, means having correctly working 02 sensors & driving your Jeep getting them hot.
Driving up a long hill to the floor will clean things out good.
I'm trying to picture what would happen inside a cat when you try to introduce seafoam. I think I will pass on that one.
Nope, never seen a video about seafom used directly into a cat before, this is a first.

I agree. Seafoam is great in the occasional tank of gas, but the best way to clean out your cats is to get on it and get everything heated up really good. The heat can also burn any gunk off the O2’s.

my brother-in-law used cataclean for his CAT MIL code before emission testing.
Still holding up for a year.
Yeah I definitely believe it will work for that, I just couldn't figure if it would do damage to the catalytic converter metals or not.. I guess if it is removing the code it's got to be clearing it out and getting it back to working somewhat right?

I used cataclean when I first had 02 codes. I still have codes different 02 codes tho. However I've come to the conclusion it's a 04 motor in a 03 body. If you use anything use cataclean
