Hoping to make it past Christmas Day without another repair but no such luck.

Walked outside this AM and noticed a fresh stain in the driveway.

$50 for new water pump and about $30 for a couple of gallons of coolant.

Never could get the bleed plug out to "burp" the system. Crossing my fingers and planning to carry a gallon of coolant mix for topping off as needed.

Mark

Make a small 50/50 mix of acetone and ****** fluid. next time you get home dab it on the bleeder bolt. it will break free the next day. way more effective than off the shelf penetrating oil.

Oh, yeah: filled up with gas and took it through the car wash Sunday when I went to the beer store to fill the beer fridge back up.

They salted the hell out of the roads here Friday and the poor thing was a mess...

Decided it was time to get a GPS device. I checked online a few days ago, in preparation for my trip to Reno. Discovered the Garmin DriveSmart 61 LMT-S was on sale for $199.00, so I added BestBuy to my to-do list. When I got there, the unit was even less - 189.00. The included suction cup mount seems to be just about the right length, so I mounted the device just to the right of the dash hump. Using voice commands to search is pretty crappy, but I'm happy with everything else. Haven't taken it off-road yet though. And I prob'ly need to get at least one extra map for that purpose.

I could be mistaken, but cell phone + an app require cellular service.

If you venture off the beaten path, cell signals may be weak or nonexistent.

A dedicated GPS may prove more reliable in these situations.

Howdy everyone
I'm a new KJ owner. I just bought an 05 liberty CRD. I have heard the torque converters are an issue. So I have a couple of general questions hoping someone might know the answers to.
1) I'm thinking of buying a TC for a Dodge Ram with a Hemi supposedly they have the same 545rfe trans. Is this true and will that TC work?

2) I read on another thread that the 68rfe they put behind the 6.7 cummins is the exact same size as the 545 so would just a bell housing change allow me to use one?

Exactly! Also that leaves your phone free for texting while driving! J/k

All true, however Google Maps on a smart phone does allow for offline maps download.. so it has the entire map of an area, or at least the surrounding area to your destination saved to the device should it lose signal.

Even still, a dedicated GPS only needs a few satellites which are more easily attained in very remote locations.

While navigation is one of the most important uses travelers have for their smartphones, how often do you think about exactly how a phone knows where you are and where you're going? You might not know that in addition to connecting to cellular towers, your phone is constantly tracking GPS signals from satellites circling the planet—and that you can use your phone GPS without data for more purposes than you might expect.

If you've ever tried to navigate in a place where your phone has weak or no cellular service, you probably wished you could take advantage of offline phone GPS. Fortunately, you can:
GPS signals are raining down around us at all times, and your phone can connect to them without any real reliance on your cellular company, impact on your data plan, or dependence on the phone mode you are in. These signals are free for all of us to use, so long as we have the right apps and a device with which to connect.

Been reading up and am going to start using an old phone for my GPS, so main cell stays charged up when I get back to civilization
