Installed a rear tow hook on the left side. Will do right rear later. I tried finding a hole to pass through the nuts into the frame rail, no go So I mounted it to the hitch bracket.
I'm concerned about the bolt ends puncturing the fuel tank if that corner gets hit just right... So if there is room, I'll swap the bolts to enter from the other side. I tried to just remove the hitch to do this, but even with a big impact wrench I couldn't get all 6 bolts loose. I'll spray them with penetrating oil and try later.
In the meantime, it's there should I need a good rear recovery point.

This is what I use and would suggest too. Hooks are scary.
I got the XJ all done, and got the KJ ready for wheeling tomorrow.

I have the hitch shackle as well.... But I thought more recovery points would be good, up to a point. I also like their aesthetic. If for the rear, I'd for sure use the shackle above all else if I was able.

Beavertail is the best, fastest to hook up and easiest to use
Mine came from a local 4x4 shop. But I've seen the identical item at Harbor Freight for about $10. It's rated to 10,000lbs.
If you Google search for hit him mounted recovery D rings.... They pop up all over the place. Ice used mine last winter to pull a van that popped his axle and ball joint apart on the front wheel; it was no issue at all. Safe and secure.

Have you really looked at the HF ones ?
Wouldn't trust them to pull a tricycle out of the yard
Warn makes the best one, sold chuck of steel no welds
I have, they seemed lighter duty than rated. I didn't see welds on the shackles themselves, but absolutely on the hitch adaptor that they connect to. That was a little disconcerting.

Pulled the overhead cams and valve cover. Engine gets simpler the more stuff I remove.

I rebuilt a 4.0 2 summers ago. Low oil pressure at idle. Ended up using the upgraded oil pump when the bearings checked out o-k

Is there a brand you like Tom? I've seen some of the receivers that are specifically made for these D rings that are better (more robust) than others as well.
What's recommended for the front if you don't have an ARB bumper or modified receivers in the tow hook area?
Warn makes good accessories.
As for the front, you can do mopar towhooks but they bend easily. Mine were tweaked. Really anything up front needs to be tied together some how. The receivers work better than the tow hooks because they reach back further.

I have a warn that is good, solid chuck of steel , no welds, just two holes, plus couple of others made the same, not even sure what brand they are anymore. Had them 25 years or so
BUT still like the ease of using the Beavertail, so easy to hook a strap to it
Some of the ones I see places are selling look so cheap, I guess I have seen too many that broke / pulled apart over the years that I don't trust very many of them. Those cheap and log chains make me nervous everytime I see someone using them.

installed new rear rotors and pads. Pulled DS rotor, emergency brake lining fell out on floor

So I call them and get told, "please hold"
This gives me enough time to search rock auto, 5 min later I hang up and order everything from shoes to hardware from Rock auto.
