Would be nice to have an aftermarket transponder key & FOB built in.
Is this possible with KJ? What's involved?
I wonder if dealer key like above can be made?

What year do you have. I have a flip out key with the fob built in
^ Thanks, I have a 2004 KJ (PS it is in my signature line)
I take it you have an aftermarket one, somehow programmed it, got a pic of it? Link to the product?

I will let you know, black key means no chip grey key, you got a chip. You can just buy one, cut out the chip from the key and glue it in the new one (make sure it works first!)

I have a black key rexactly like the one you pictured in the first post. Pretty sure mine has a chip in it because I have an immobilizer. I got 2 of the same key when I bought my jeep used. Also pretty sure they are factory key

Yes I have a grey chip key.
I know it looks black in photo, could not make it look grey with flash.

Just for fun, I tested my non chip, spare door key, & it started the Jeep and then stalled ha ha within 2 seconds and Key light on dash came on, so I know the system works!
Going to investigate further a new fob & transponder key for Jeep.
There is an auto locksmith here.
I will stop by and see if he has a chipped fob for the Jeep.
I do not want to cut an OEM key apart.

My 05 has the once piece key like you posted.

Check eBay, you can get whatever style key you want, just move the guts from yours into it and get it cut, it'll work. Chip is in the guts. At least mine it is.

since you one have one key with a chip i believe what you want is possible but you may have to get a dealership to do it. If you have two chip keys you can program new ones yourself. but if you only have on chip key it needs to be programmed for you. Im not sure if the aftermarket places can do this, athough they may very well be able to

I don't know about that style fob.
I did try to find one that the key folded in but couldn't find one that'll work for my 03.

Plenty of chipped keys on ebay for cheap.
I got my 3rd set of keys and fob on ebay just in case I loose a set, I can still program keys and fobs.

well you can always pull out the chip from a cheap ebay key and put in the flip out style key.
I don't know whether the remote would work though.

The flipout key is completely aftermarket. I don't think any Jeeps used it.

I had the key in the first picture posted
I ordered a flip out key with the same keypad layout as the old one and transferred the chip into the new one
Works great and looks much better

Cut the chip out of the key and put it in the aftermarket one. No big deal
