used wrong oil

This is my first time postingI accidentally stuck 5w30 in my engine today and it says it takes 5w20 its an 07 liberty and I used the z max in the oil will this damage my engine

No you should be fine. A little thicker at operating temps but nothing terrible. I think they may have spec'd 5w20 in the 07 for fuel economy or something. Cold viscosity will be the same.

For differential fluid, if we don't have limited slip, can we use gear oil that comes with additive already in it? I can't find any 75W-140 locally that doesn't have friction modifier, and my diff doesn't have limited slip.

You can replace Mopar PS with ATF+4 only if you professionaly flush the PS system. You shouldn't mix up those fluids.

Well then if not all may i ask what years didn't use the atf+4. Because I can't find anything that says otherwise. I'd like to know so I don't give bad info anymore.

early 2002. my sport takes regular ps fluid and I believe the build date was 3/02 if I remember right.

What about types of fuel?

Thanks for your recommended fluids! With all the Jeep Liberty horror stories filling up the internet concerning carbon buildup and valve problems, do you recommend using "Plus" or "Premium" to that of "Regular" gas? And is there any truth into those horror stories? Thanks!!!

This will probably start a whole lot of debate but I use what the maker recommends. I use the normal stuff in all my vehicles as that's what they recommend. I do use some Techron three times a year. I'm sure there are conditions that may warrant higher octane use but for my normal elevation driving I stick with regular. I have no problems with carbon build up. Actually, I was told via TSB to avoid premium or plus gas in my 98 Ford Ranger as it may actually increase carbon build up "in those vehicles". Late 90's Ford Rangers are notorious for carbon buildup and the resulting detonation, pinging or knock!

what about a high millage car 150kmiles??

i would usually buy a "high millage oil"

or instead of 5W-30 in the summer how about a 10w40 or highe with high miles??

what do you think?

I experimented with 10W-30 on my last oil change a month ago and do not like it at all. It just seems like everything is working too hard. It may be just my imagination. Anyway, any benefit would be marginal at best. Your engine is up to operating temperature very quickly anyway.

In Australia, our fuel comes in 91 octane, 95 octane and 98 octane. I use the 98 octane. It's more expensive but it gives much better fuel economy and more power.

I have an 04 Liberty 3.7L 4 wheel drive with about 150,000 miles. I have kept an eye on my levels and I am losing little more than a quart of oil every 1000-1500 miles. Because of this I top it off when it gets low and I change it between 2000-3000 miles using 5w30 synthetic. I park in my garage and I don't have any drips on the ground and it looks dry underneath. Not sure where the oil is going but any advice? Should I change the interval of oil changes or use a specific brand/type? I'm hesitant to use any additive that claims to stop leaks. Other than that engine seems to run fine.
