Somewhere between being sane and insane!
Sorry but to anyone that thinks a bad alignment is not a safety issue is,well kinda stupid.

Now a few tenths of a degree out is no biggie but a freshly lifted IFS(and/or IRS) can be down right scary to drive.Other vehicles with really bad alignments and severely worn tires are a very bad accident waiting to happen.Vehicles with severely worn parts(causing a very bad alignment) are the same,a very bad accident waiting to happen.

TJ, your choice of the word stupid just shows your superiority complex. :). I'd say "ignorant" or "inexperienced" would be a much better description. If they had ever test driven some of those examples us in the repair business see they'd never make that statement.

What's scary is when it's been brought in for something unrelated and they don't realize there's an issue with the way it drives!

Totally agree with the highlighted part, bring them in saying nothing is wrong and they are running side ways down the road almost

Ignorant, lacking knowledge, information
Stupid, lacking intelligence or common sense.

In this case either works

Too bad common sense is a thing of the past.

Okay, but Frankenmuth to Flint is all highway, no tight curves and not really far (Just did that trip last Thurs). And the road's pretty smooth up there.

Bumps and potholes are what jack the vehicle all over the road when the alignment's that far out.

Ya gotta realize I'm from this area, we don't take 75 unless we need to and the trucks are never plated... Ride down Dehmel road and tell me how smooth that is! All these back roads around my area are jacked up for the most part. Gera is the main road to Frankenmuth unless you get off in Bridgeport, which I never do.

LOL OK have lifted quite a few at my place , I warn everyone when they would start out to the alignment shop 3 miles away to be careful.
Everyone was amazed at how they drove, like driving one on a pure ice road, with ball bearings on top of the ice.
NOW if that is not a concern to you, ...........
Back in the early 70s all I did daily was just for suspension, alignment and brakes. Seen plenty over the years that I wouldn't drive around the building. Wasn't only worn parts or bad tires, alignment being way out was one of the major issues. Affects steering, handling, braking etc
But glad you all live away from me if you don't think its an issue :happy175:

Trust me, I don't go around advocating to people that it's good to drive. All I'm trying to get through here is that the vehicle isn't going to suddenly fall apart. I know a misaligned vehicle drives like complete shit, it's just common sense to get it aligned but you know the world we live in...

Just a side note, NOT saying any of you are wrong. If you're like me and repair vehicles for a living you know how damn idiotic most of the general public is with things like this. When I bring out an alignment print out for a customer to see and it's a full degree to the left on caster and caster is two degrees jacked on either side of course I'm going to recommend that they align the vehicle. Most people will ask, 'Is it okay to drive?'. Well, in the short term, yea you'll be OK. In the long term you'll hurt yourself, though, if not aligned. Welcome to Flint guys and gals.

Sorry I'm not PC,spent to many years in the Military before they started wearing pink skirts.

Yeah you want to talk about unsafe.......................

Had a guy that just lifted his JK and wanted it checked out,and a alignment, since he said it felt weird.I'm the "Jeep guy" at work so I get all these idiots(yes most are if you talked to them).Got in it to pull it in the shop and could tell exactly what was wrong,no front tracbar and this guy drove it 10miles to my shop at highway speeds. He said oh yeah that part, the one that was on was to short after putting the spacer lift in so I didn't put it back on.Yeah that JK left on a flatbed,no way in hell was I letting that one back on the streets.

I find most times it comes down to common sense
Stupidity and common sense can be interchanged with some , well since some fall into both categories :icon_lol:

If you buy any manly type tool, weed wacker, cordless screwdriver, ball peen, don't matter. If it's got an owners manual you can rip out the first half dozen pages 'cause all they do is tell you how NOT to use it.

So true, used to be you bought something it told maybe how to start it, ( if motorized) etc thats it, not all of the what not to do's
In 1975 bought my ( first new ) farm tractor, an IH 354 , came with a manual to tell what fuel, how to widen out the wheels, hook up equipment to the 3 point hitch etc, no where in that did it tell me what not to do. They assumed I had enough common sense to know that on my own.:shrug:
Now you buy a push mower and its 90 pages of don't put your foot under the turning blade etc :happy175::happy175:

I've driven plenty of trucks directly after lift kit install from the dealer to my shop, Frankenmuth to Flint and it's not all that bad, not to mention on stock tires. Whether or not you want to call it a safety issue, its NOT needed if you like an upside down steering wheel and a vehicle that pulls every which way with tires that need replacement every 6 months.

Same point as above. A safety issue to me, would be essential parts on a vehicle that need attention. Don't get me wrong, I believe in keeping a properly aligned vehicle, but a misaligned vehicle is more nuisance than safety concerned. :emotions34:

If I hit a pothole at highway speeds (which I did not go ANYWHERE near) i would have gone flying into another lane. How on earth is that not a safety issue Mr. Know-It-All?
