been chasing a clunk up front over sharp bumps and when going into driveways, the wagon has a 2 inch OME lift have done new upper control arms, lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, sway bar bushes and links, all this was done when new cv axles were fitted. the clevis fork bushes look quite worn and the bolt seems to be sitting very low through the bush wondering if this could be the culprit. has anyone had any luck replacing these bushes without removing the lower control arm ?. all bolts were re torqued with the the vehicle sitting on the ground, look forward to your opinions
I have put 250,000 miles on my KJ. It had a 2.5" lift. Replaced the front struts twice. Both times because of the "clunk". Its internal wear inside the strut. Just finished the last strut change. Clunk is gone. Yes I know here is no discernible driving clue. You are doing everything I did. 2 times. First time a good tech told me to do this. It worked.

Most likely its your sway bar links. They always make that noise, upgrade to universal ball joint link to get rid of it once and for all.
You have a link to the universal ball joint your talking about?

Get ride if the OME or auto parts sway bar links. Even if new. Its a known source of clunk. Go to these. 100x better. No more clunk.

Go to my pages here about 12-27-25 for installation as they are not jeep. Not plug and play. But not fifficult.
