Hey guys I did a search and I really have not found an answer... I have a brand new in the box tent that was a promo from Jeep when I bought my Liberty brand new in 02. It's been sitting in the basement, never been used, hell it's never even had the box opened except to show us it's supposed to be a tent!! Everything is still in plastic and no smoke, no nothing. Well I have been considering selling it vs storing it forever-but then again if it's not worth a whole lot I will keep it for a few more years and set it up for the kids in the backyard. Please let me know if this has any real value or ????? Thanks again guys for all the help and advice!!!!

What kind of tent is it? How many people does it hold, etc.?

Several companies make a custom tent designed to fit on the back of a Liberty. Google "Jeep Liberty Tent" and you'll see what I mean.

Those cost more than a tent of comparable size and quality, but since they are kind of unique to the Jeep they are worth it to some people. If it's just a generic tent with the Jeep logo on the side it's probably not worth any more than a similar tent you could buy anywhere. On the other hand, there are collectors who will buy anything.

Got any pictures of the box? Or maybe a part number? :)

EDIT: Here's the OEM one:

I assume its the one that came with your KJ. If so I bought 5 of them back a few years ago that ranged from 35-75 bucks, now days they are going for 125 or so it seems ( or the last ones I seen sell)
They are a great tent, roomy, pretty well built, buddy still has one and I've slept in the "outer room" in it before
So depending on how bad you want to get rid of it I'd start at 125 IMO

Anyone have any pictures of the actual tent in question? I'm really curious to see what one looks like.

Not the mountains.
I've seen them range from $100 to $180. If you need the extra money sell it but otherwise I'd keep it.

But if he hasn't used it in 11 years, more than likely the chances are slim to none that he ever will.
Pass it along to those that will use and enjoy it for the next ten-twelve years

I already asked if I could buy it and he politely declined!

I've been looking for one for quite some time now.

They are still around. Just have to check, lots of people got them , threw them in the basement or garage and forgot about them. The second one I bought I just happened to be out walking and stopped to talk to this older lady who had a Liberty and she mentioned it. I offered her 50 she said 35 was more than enough since I had to carry it home :favorites13:

I should of kept one for myself but......:jester:

Actually you guys had a valid point that I have not used it and probably would have sold it until we adopted our 2 kids. I figured if it was worth more than a regular tent of a similar size I would sell and buy something for the kids to use in the backyard or whatever. But honestly if I sold it for current value I would then have to spend extra to replace.

No doubt that tent would make one hell of an effective "gas chamber" if you run the engine. Be sure not to get the wife pissed at ya in the middle of the night...."oops" she said! ;)

It can be set up by itself without the Jeep, or even "unhooked " from The jeep during the day and rehooked at night.
As far as having it for the kids in the backyard, well it will make a nice big play area for sure, lots bigger than a normal tent that you can buy for a similar price.

That's exactly why I plan to keep it- bigger and it was a freebie!! Plus it will be lotsa fun for the whole family!! I looked and it has a Mopar part number on the box, but no I didn't write it down, but if anybody knows the part numbers I can supply them.

Just found a brand new never used one in my neck of the woods, on craigslist. Asking $170. I wonder if the guy is following this thread? ;)

Tom, you've got an entire KJ in parts in your garage, don't you? Plus all the accessories you've bought and sold it's like a Mopar parts department right there in your neighborhood :hail: :headbang:
