I have Mobil One Extended Performance Full Synthetic 5W-30 in my KJ and during the winter months at colder temperatures my Oil Light will come on and ding anytime my rpms are below 1000 and sometimes even higher like 2000 if I press the accelerator and get it past about 2000 it will go off. It did this to me last winter too but eventually quit when it got warmer. I posted a thread about it last winter and someone said something about a sensor possibly going bad, I couldn't find the thread so decided to post a new one and maybe get more opinions on what it could be I plan to try to fix whatever it is tomorrow because I'm off work. So an thoughts will be appreciated.

It's probably the oil pressure sender. Mine went bad a year ago with similar symptoms. I think it's a decent story. -- The day after an oil change when driving home from work the oil light came on when I came to a stop. If a gave it a little gas it went back off. I took it over to the place that had changed the oil and it wouldn't do it anymore. The next morning on the way to work it did it though. I took it to the stealership down the street from the office, told them I thought the oil pressure sender was going bad, and asked them to check it. The guy came back and said the sender needed to be replaced, the engine needed the synthetic oil changed 2 days before flushed out, new oil put in, and the engine computer needed to be reprogrammed, so it would be about $500. At that point I got right in his face in front of everyone and said "That's some good sh%t you're smoking. Can I have some?" As he was stuttering trying to figure out to do, I was stating loudly that there was no way I was going to pay $500 for a $40 part that takes a half an hour to replace. I'm about 5'11 and 225 lbs, so I probably had about 3inches and 60 lbs on him, plus he saw me pull the FiveseveN out of the door pocket and move it to my jacket when I gave them the Jeep. That, combined with my p'd off redneck act that I can lay on pretty thick had him pretty nervous. It was all he could do to get out a "please come with me so we can work this out." After a few minutes of them trying to make things right, I went back in the waiting room to see a bunch of anxious faces, to which I responded "50 bucks for the part and a half hour labor." It was hillarious to watch everyone in the waiting room, one by one, question them about their shenanigans.

yeah, i've seen a similar issue before when it is actually due to low oil pressure...not sure how the oil pressure system works on this motor, but it could be a plugged screen on the oil pump, bad oil pump, or it could just be the sending unit.

might as well start there, as that's probably the easiest and cheapest!

Make sure you actually check the oil pressure when replacing the sender. If something is causing it to be low, you've got problems, or they're coming your way soon if you don't fix it.

If it's consistent, hate to say it, but you've likely got some engine issues dude.

well it doesn't do it every single time the rpms fall below 1000 but it does it often.

how do i check the pressure?

Well I went to napa bout a new sensor for 12 dollars and some cents, came home spent 30 minutes trying to slide the lock thing the right way so i could remove the plug from the sensor, had to use a freakin 1 1/16" socket to remove the sensor in about a minute, started the new sensor in the hole with my hand, got it as tight as i could, then snugged it with a rachet, cleaned the plug, plugged it back up, started it up and let the rpms fall, no problem now! :) totaled to be about an hour job simply because that stupid little sliding lock on the plug anyway thanks guys!
