I know...how did I screw up on this?

So the M bolt/screw, I put it in the wrong way. No prob, just slide it through the way I put it in. Nope, fell over in the bumper. So now to get it, do I have to remove the bumper to get to it? If so, how shall I do that?

TIA.

You would have to on an '06. I assume an '05 would be similar. Actually, you remove the plastic bumper cover. Following is part of how I installed my front shackles with how you remove the grill and bumper, etc.

pop hood and release clips at top of front grill, starting at headlights
You must be registered for see images attach

continue releasing clips along top of grille
You must be registered for see images attach

lean grill top out to release lower clips and remove grill.
You must be registered for see images attach

unscrew each turn signal lens.
You must be registered for see images attach

pull assembly out of slot in fender cowling
You must be registered for see images attach

remove bolt from fender cowling at headlight
You must be registered for see images attach

remove bolt on bottom of cowling by bottom of radiator, each side
You must be registered for see images attach

pry plastic pop rivet off at bottom, each side
You must be registered for see images attach

pry pop rivet off at leading edge of front fender well lining
You must be registered for see images attach

slide screw driver, etc., behind head of pop rivet and carefully pry out
You must be registered for see images attach

release clip at top of cowling by wheel well
You must be registered for see images attach

gently pull on turn signal harness rivet and remove from cowling
You must be registered for see images attach

twist turn signal bulb socket and remove. cowling should drop off
You must be registered for see images attach

front of KJ with plastic removed
You must be registered for see images attach

remove all three nuts from tow hooks and remove
You must be registered for see images attach

remove "w", or double bolt leaving spring clip nut in place
You must be registered for see images attach

remove access hole cap
You must be registered for see images attach

tow hook access hole ready to modify
You must be registered for see images attach

Once you have the access hole cap off you can retrieve the "M" bolt. Hope this helps.

Bravo jhblackwell! Nice work! I was under the impression that the bumper cover was held by revets that had to be broken in order to remove it. I'll be ussing this info to remove the cove and make some measuremens....;)

Thanks alot!

The pre-'05s are.

Now, I was under the impression that you didn't need to remove the bumper to install the accessory tow hooks purchased from Mopar, right?

You are just needing to know how to remove the bumper to find the dropped piece, correct?

I just receved mine for Chirstmas. Just making sure.lol

Also, how did you remove the "knockouts" on the Limited bumper where the tow hooks go? I have several ways of doing it. just wondering how you did.

Lastly, you can remove the "Looking for front tow hooks" line in your sig now. :)

You don't have to do the knock outs. I'm not, for now at least. I'll change my sig soon...

If your careful with those pop out rivets they are re-usable... If you break one hit a Napa store they got them in bags of 25 or you can buy a few...

Are the rivets reuseable?
According to the FSM, you pop them out and then put them back in. Since it doesn't say anything about adding new ones, I would think that means they are reusable. And in my own personal opinion and experience, they look like reusable pop rivets.

Thank you so much...that's what I needed. Thanks again! :)
Took me awhile to get back to this thread, but you're welcome.
This site and the L.O.S.T. site are excellent resources. Thanks to everyone that has posted mods, installs, etc. I'd be lost without the info.

Did you take the end caps off the frame?

Is the nut cross threading?
