The best part of 4wd are the badges.
jk....4wd should just compliment good driving skills, not replace them.

I have a 7 mile uphill drive to work everyday(7 mile downhill to go home),never had a issue in 2wd and getting up those ice cover hills that have a nice curve in them also, didn't even have to engage the ARB either(momentum is your friend, dodging slow idiots suck though).I have yet this winter have to engage 4wd to go anywhere(and Colorado Springs is more "hilly" then where you live),I don't even bother to lock my hubs in anymore since I have not needed 4wd yet. Then again I grew up in much worse conditions and learned to drive on snow and ice with just RWD only. For those of you that can get anywhere without 4wd then you must live where its all down hill. First hill around here that has snow on it I just sit there and spin. Even with a locker. And no, dont say its b/c of my tires b/c its not.
Common sense will tell you that you need 4wd to get up a hill in the snow.

Was the same in SD also, maybe all the pollution there is the problemSnow around here[KY] is like grease, the snow out west/north is a "dry" sort,at least that is how it seems in my limited experience.

4 LO:
• Use for severe off-road situations
• Increases available engine torque by 2.72:1
• Slow speed to 3-5 km/h (2-3 mph), put transmission in Neutral
• Engage 4 LO and return transmission to desired gear

Oh and also another good vehicle to drive is a 2x4 ranger 4 ******. Try driving one of those in 10 inches of snow. You need experience without 4x4 IMO.
So, out of curiosity...
If you're supposed to slow down to that speed to engage it, and since 4LO implies this setting is for use with low gears only...exactly how fast can you go under this setting?

I just throw in into 1st with 4 Lo...shouldn't go over 25.![]()
When I'm in 4low and 4th gear I max out at about 20mph,pushing redline. In 1st gear I can walk faster then my KJ can go.
