I was looking at getting an Eaton ELocker for the front diff. I might be able to get it a little on the cheapish side. Will the D30A be strong enough for this or I save my money for a DTT.

IMO
yes the 30a will be fine with a locker/lsd like that one is
the thing that kills the front diff is shock load not the stress of being locked
it is just like wheelin with a dana 35 and 33's on a TJ
lock it and dont get stupid with the go pedal and you will be better off
open forces you to get stupid with the go pedal

get the wheels spinning the sudden traction and BAM broken shaft
same bam for the KJ = busted front diff

What about if you put a DTT in front and rear. (aside from the fact that we all know the ARB is a locker and is the best)

Anyone run DTT front and rear??

why would it not work
I was under the impression that the part number for an ARB was the same
for the KJ dana 30a and the TJ dana 30?
I also thought that the same went for the TT?

I hope this is the case
if I keep the KJ I may ,MAY, pull the ARB out of the front of the TJ and put it along with a Detroit out back in the KJ
I would then install a Detroit in the front of the TJ
Detroits front and Rear nothing to fail then (dont try this with a KJ)

This would be a good set up
and for 90% of the trails you would run in a KJ it would be great
I have given it thought but I am a fan of a full case locker in the rear
so I would go Detroit locker rear and TT front
if you unload the front and rear enough even TT will not be good enough
and regardless to what others may say you will get 1 front and 1 rear spinning just not as bad or as soon as open-open

Think of it like this
TT front and rear will be completely unnoticed on the road
Eaton/track tech make both the TT and the Detroit locker
1 WILL lock up 100% of the time 1 will NOT

For the price and ease of install you really can't go wrong with the DTT in the front. It works flawlessly and is very durable, as mine has survived 2 blown housings with chewed up ring & pinon gears and is still going strong.

why?
a Detroit True Track is a limited slip and people run them all day long

Now there is a down side to the ECTED
it is a clutch based LSD which means that it will ware out
making it useless over time

Truetrac is not active till the wheel has spun, the clutch type LSD's are active till the torque is greater than the clutch can hold. Talk to Auburn.
