Anyone know if there is a way to determine the number of splines so I can order new axle shafts without pulling the old ones first? I have a stock 04 Sport 4WD. I am not sure I will need axles but I appear to have a bad rear bearing and want to have them available when we tear it down just in case to minimize down time.

Ok did some research and I figured out what I have. Stock Chrysler rear diff which takes 29 spline axles. Tried to order Yukons from O'Reilly's and with a lot of hassle and calls determined they are not in stock in this part of the country. I gave up. Tried Dorman's from Advance as I am in a rush- only one available. So I settled on some from Summit that ship from the manufacturer. Richmond Gear Excel OEM. But they come with seals and bearings Cheaper but available. At this point I am just wanting it fixed. This Liberty has cost me so much this year. I am about ready to drive it off a cliff.

Where are you? I have a set of axles taking up space in the garage. Came out of a 2004.

Thanks. I already ordered. I was in a rush. I am in PA. Been a rough year with my Liberty. Ball joints, steering rack, coolant leak into cylinder 4, brakes- did not finish the back yet because I ran into problems, now this. Plus I need tires and am debating putting the steelies back on. They crushed my rockers at Monro Muffler so they need a lot of work on top of all this. What the actual hell! But one step at a time I guess.
