Apologies for the spelling in the title!

I think the WK's and the KJ's share the same 8.25" 29 spline rear axle.

Does having a rear locker interfer with the ESP and Traction control?

Also...I have never seen a WK (Grand Cherokee or an XK (commander with rear lockers).

Every locker manufacture I have found does not list WK lockers on their site, yet the KJ has the same rear axles.

Any idea about why this is? Will a locker fit in my WK rear end?

The locker has nothing directly to do with the Axle, the locker installes inside the Differential. The axle stays the same, you change out the guts of the differential.

Why? Because the WK is offered with its own "lockers" from the factory. That could be the reason.

They DO share the same 8.25 rear end.

There are about 10 or different 8.25's made and not all will accept all the aftermarket 8.25 parts. If you have QuadraDriveII your out of luck for any aftermarket support.
Yeah that's kinda where I was getting at, QDII is an extreme limitation in aftermarket parts because there's an extreme amount of electronics and programming involved.

Anywho, I shouldn't have said "same".

I went up this hill in Panamint Valley a few months ago. Having a rear locker would have made it a cake walk. For the record a decked out CJ with a V8 and racing cam didn't make it up. It was steep! Wish I had a pic from the bottom.

Anyway I have Quadra Trac II not Quadra Drive II so I don't have the limited slips.

I don't do anything ********* but when I hit those steep spots I would like the help of a locker. I can get rid of the white knuckles too.

This is my blog for my students.....just to show you guys the type of stuff I do out in the desert.

At least you have Quadra-Trac II. :p Some of us don't even have that, lol....

... still love my Jeep though, I don't do anything that requires QTII or QDII for that matter. I have fun regardless. ;)

I read a bunch about what kinda axle the wk has an everyone seems to be confused. No one knows if a locker for a regular 8.25 will work with the wk or not. I know our wk with Quadra-Drive is nothing like the 8.25 on my kj. Ring gear is a bit smaller and the housing looks totally different.
