Minor 'oh shit' moment.... The new line doesn't look like the old...

Oh wait, what's that label on them mean... They came out of the same bag....

Ahh, we're good...

.. And in place. A little fiddly to get into place (don't join them til they are in-situ, makes it lots easier), but a hell of a lot better than shipping in an enormous box to avoid bending them for shipping.

Once they are in place, kind of massage them to clear and fit where needed. They won't fit the oem saddles as the OD of the line is much larger. Anti-chafe spiral wrap or (good quality aftermarket split loom) similar, with (screwed-in) zip tie saddles to brace the lines will help avoid work hardening and breach.

While we are here, here's how I filter my power steering and transmission fluids..

MUST be on the return lines... Not rated for higher pressure otherwise....
Braced to the hard part of the HP hose because I'm kinda OCD about letting hoses flop around. Yes, I adapted to JIC/AN industrial fittings to make the power steering setup stouter (and easier/cheaper to repair in future). I do need to shorten that hose and put a 90 at the junction.... Or some hose protection. It's too close to the rad cap for comfort... But it's been like that for 5 years without a drop or chafe...

I checked and that sensor attached to a Schrader valve. So, disconnect the sensor, suck the system down, pause for leak down test. If passed, fill the system. Reassemble before run and all should be well, yes?

Waiting on the leak down test (45 minutes) to complete.
20 minutes remain, doubt there will be issues.

One of the employees here brought his girlfriend and her Dachshund puppy to work. I got my share of puppy kisses for the week. I need a new dog.....

My ac went out yesterday while driving home from work and the humidity was up around 80%, temp was 85 so it felt like 96, it was miserable. So I quickly started trouble shooting to see what was up because the compressor was not engaging. I knew the freon was well serviced because about a year ago a leaking hose was replaced and it was cooling nicely the day before. I'll just say Google AI is amazing, it told me specifically what to check starting with the fuses and relay. It told me specific fuse numbers on the dash and relay location under the hood. The fuses were good and I swapped a nearby identical relay with the ac clutch one and still no go. I further followed Google AI that told me to check specific voltages at specific pins on the high and low pressure switches and at the clutch. There was no 12v present at the clutch with power on and the ac on. Following Google AI, it told me to jumper the clutch at the relay by removing it and jumping the terminal, the clutch engaged and the ac blew cold air; that was a good sign. AI told me to jumper the low pressure switch and the clutch did not engage. It told me NOT to jumper the high pressure switch because it's not a off-on type switch like the low pressure one. It has three pins, one has a constant 5v coming from the PCM, if I jumper it incorrectly I could fry the PCM so I stayed away from that. AI told me specifically what color wires to check and what the results should be on that harness. So everything was good, the only thing left was the high pressure switch, AI was 99% that was the problem after everything I checked to include what a appeared to be a dead high pressure switch, it should have had some resistance, not completely open like I was getting. So next came trying to find the switch and I can't believe the range in prices for that thing. Jeep wanted $250, NAPA $150, O'Reilly $60, and Amazon $24, that's nuts! I went with O'Reilly because I wanted it now and wasn't paying over $60 for that thing. I replaced the switch and it all worked as advertised. Ahhhh, cool air in my little blue dinosaur again.

A few years ago, on my 2005 CRD, the AC stopped working, and I was able to diagnose a damaged condensor as the only problem.

So while I was doing the timing chain, I also replaced the AC condensor and, since I had opened up the system, I also replaced the lines, drier and orifice as well, and then had it professionally refilled. The AC worked really well until just a couple days ago, but now the AC blows air only about 10°F cooler then ambient temperature at best.

NOT sure where to start this time… guess I'll try google AI, but also open to any ideas here?

If it’s just not as cold but still cool i would say to check the freon. With as many things as you changed, there could be a small leak and some leaked out. Have it reserviced and checked for proper pressure.

You can see nearly all the engine wire looms have disintegrated again. The replacement loom available from the auto parts stores just does not last in the heat of the engine bay. Does anyone know of a brand of wire looms that will last more than a year?
Just wondering, why's your ac compressor/clutch disconnected?
