Has the vibration been getting worse? I just rebuilt the front driveshaft on the transfercase side and that helped a little but only pointed me towards the front cv's. So I am going to see if changing those out fixes my vibration that is slowly getting worse. And now when next to buildings at slow speed with the windows open I have started to hear a bit of a squeal from the front end. Just got my intermediate shaft in, just have to go pick it up now.

No. Pretty consistent. It's going to have to wait now - I gotta drive it to UT and back. Hopefully it'll be good.

Had the front wheel bearings replaced with some Timkens. I thought it would fix the clunking noise I have in the front left wheel when I go over bumps, but nope.

Check your cvs. Could be either side, but definately check your passenger side. Clunk from what you think is a left side is usually right side cv

jeep wrenching is on hold.
neon is down for a clutch change.
shadow just developed a really bad misfire. probably plugs or wires or cap/rotor. also has an exhaust leak I need to hunt down and weld up.

Cheers, ill check that out. Its a strange noise. It sounds and feels like something is loose and rattling in the wheel, which is why I thought it was the bearings. Only happens when going over small bumps or dips in the road at low speed. Possibly sway bar bushing or end links?

Poor little KJ:icon_razz::icon_razz:

it's all good. when the time comes it'll be a festival of wrenches and modifications.

found out why the shadow has a misfire; #3 spark plug is broken.

Could be. Hard to say. If you put new bushings on, make sure you dont torque them down until the weight of the jeep is on the ground. Otherwise, if new bushings fixed the problem, the noise will probably return in short order

Test fit... fitted?... a jk bumper today. Should be installed tuesday. Will have many pics to post then. Have a detours backbone so i have plenty sturdy mounting points. Been on the hunt for a tj or jk full width bumper for some time, found one local for $100 so i figured why not pick it up. Ill be removing the winch mount as its a winch bumper. So that will be for sale soon pretty cheap as you would need the mounting brackets. But detours was great about sending me out a kit of all the hardwAre when i bought the backbone used so i dont see a reason why they wouldnt sell the brackets themselves with the hardwAre kit (im keeping most of the hardware for the new install). Stay tuned, pics on tuesday hopefully!

P0128 popped up on the way to work. It's an easy fix, but I'm not looking forward to having to drain the cooling system again :icon_sad:.
Oh well, it's the first code that's popped up in four months, not too bad for a twelve year old vehicle with unknown history.

misfire solved. new plugs and 2 rounds of seafoam. much smoke, now smooth idle and good acceleration. also discovered where my exhaust leak is. donut gasket at the manifold/down pipe junction is dead. just got back from getting the parts. going to tackle it in a few.
