Chrysler 8.25 rear...Dana D30A front...

V6: 3.73 gear ratio.

Trac lock? There should be a sticker on the right hand side of the rear axle sayint it has trac lock...

Sorry should have been more clear. That is what I wanted to know. I dont think its trac lock its not a limited slip diff.

I don't know because honestly...you'll never feel the difference. (it only 'limits' slip around 30%...when new...)

Tony, mine still works well at 118,000kms. Both rear tires churn snow/mud and whatever else might be loose into lovely rooster tails when I mash the go pedal. I've changed gear oil every 20K kms and used the Mopar Trac-Loc additive every time. Maybe it's rare, but that's how mine works.

That said, I'm going south of the 49th again soon and will be shopping for a locker.

I'm gona try a thread high-jack here...

Any one running an Ausie locker in the front end? How well do they hold up to every day driving? Do gear oil change intervals have to be shortened to get rid of the metal filings that are sure to collect in the diff? Do they really lock the diff and get both fronts to spin together?

Jack up the rear end and try to turn one of the tires with the ****** in P. If it turns its an open diff.

Theres a VERY slight chance you have a dana 35 rear axle. If the bottom if flat then its a 8.25 axle.

It could still be a D35, build sheets aren't exactly accurate all the time either. Whatever could be / is available in the assembly plant is what is used to build a vehicle. So if your KJ was built on a day where all they had were D35s.... then that's what you got, a D35 instead of an 8.25 despite the build sheet saying something completely different.

Or lets say you DON'T have the factory towing package but they only had fan shrouds for the towing package.

Guess what you're getting?

A fan shroud for the towing package. :)

Now if they ran out of parts completely... then they will stop the line. Like lets say they ran out of bumper covers. Line gets stopped, everyone goes home. It'll start back up when parts come in.
