I got a bare unit without mounts. Are the 2 housings different? I thought just the mounts were different and the housings were the same.

Guess I need to know if the housings are the same. If not can I use it as I have it installed or do I need different mounts or axles? Do I need to take it apart and put the gears and DTT in my old housing?

Housing are the same, the one I have was bought brand new from Jeep as well ( was in one a short time that went SFA) used my original 3.7 CVs etc
I see no need to remove and switch
Are you sure the DTT was OK when you bought it ( or wait did you install the DTT yourself?)

I had the local hot rod shop set the DTT. It looked like a new one but I did not install it. I'm thinking now I just did not get the axle pushed far enough into the diff. Did you see the pic..looks to far out to me.

That pic of the left side CV axle shows the problem - the axle isn't in far enough. Like Tom said in an earlier post, the large inner housing isn't supposed to be completely flush but it's close - yours is out about 1 1/2" or 2". Should be within a 1/4" or so to the differential.

Lol..as usual it was something boneheaded that I did. I agree, I got it on the lift last night and looked at it knew that did not look right. I am going to get it out and set it against the old axle and make sure its the right length.
