Water Pump - How Long Do they Normally Last?

Replaced mine at 130,000 miles and the old water pump was still working fine the only reason why I replaced it was because of its age and I did not know when it would fail on me.

108k on mine when it started leaking and I replaced it. No other issues.

im at 145k but will be replacing it cause of the clutch fan nut issue I had.
I'll be going NAPA for the part.

207,000 and still going, of course I flush my cooling system way more than most people so maybe that helps .

But its a wear item could last 60,000 or triple that its a crap shoot at best trying to determine when one may go

Wow Tom receives the golden trophy award for water pump longevity.
How often do you flush the KJ and have you been using Mopar Hoat or G05?
Is the pulley/ bearing still tight? You obviously have done something right or got a bullet proof OEM pump! Are you going to change it out soon, or now carry a spare in the KJ now?

T-stat, waterpump, fuel system cleaner, belt tensioner.

I don't recall the mileage on the OEM one when it finally went. But I was well into the 100K range... probably closer to 200K.

Sounds like you got lotsa miles out of your pump as well Jayme!
You do lots of hwy trips as well which keeps things pumping.
Did you flush your system regularly as well? Use Hoat or G05?

Looking through my records it looks like on the average every 35,000 or so. It looks like the first time was at 40,523, then about every 35 after that.
I used Mopar except for the last time when I had to grab some from the parts store. Got lucky years ago and snagged 3 cases of Mopar for real cheap.
Pulley and bearing are still tight, no leaks, noises or anything

it lasted 130k n decided it was time to replaced after i look in the engine bay and it started to get wet around the pump not leaking tho.. replace it with n advanceautoparts one they only sell 2 reman n new bought new and it only lasted 20k one day just started to make noises and dump all the antifreeze took it back to them for the warranty and got a new 1... so hope it last longer

For the record, my pump is at 135k miles and still going strong.

Apparently, Napa's Tru-flow water pump is a Gates water pump according to the warranty PDF.

I would recommend that when replacing the water pump, you call the jeep dealer and stay away from the after market pumps all together.
As we can see by this thread, our OEM pumps do last a long time overall.

A lot of highway and in-town mileage - both.

I flush/refill every couple of years... and sometimes there are other repairs we do that require a flush/refill anyway (radiator, hoses, etc.).

I don't keep track of mileage so much with fluid maintenance... other than oil and coolant, all fluids are renewed once a year. I drive a LOT, so it makes sense.
