I called a trailer install place to get a estimate on a wire harness install to tow a trailer. My 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport does not have the wires. They told me it's 75.00 for the harness because they have to put in a complete separate wire install because if you just put a reg kit in and attach it it might catch fire.
Has anyone else heard this? Has anyone just added the reg harness to there jeep? And they want 85.00 to install it! That is just way expensive.

Also I just got my Jeep and can't find where the jack is stored. I folded down the pass seat and nothing there. any Ideas?

Are you trying to wire a 4 pin or 7 pin harness?

Jack should be under the rear passenger seat. If you fold it, you won't be able to access it.

There's nothing bad about that price. You don't want to connect directly to the vehicle wiring to avoid a short and possible electrical damage. My recommendation is the Mopar harness for the Liberty. It runs about $125 but it is plug & play down to the clips that attach it to the vehicle.

The jack and lug wrench is under the passenger side rear seat if you have one. Look there. A previous owner may have removed it and not put it back. If so, check with salvage yards.

I've gotten along fine with mine so far, but if you're going to be using it a lot the stock jack is not that great. If yours is missing you might look for something sturdier, especially if you'll be changing tires seasonally or need to throw a spare set of tires on there for weekend backcountry expeditions, etc.

What I did was find a 2002 liberty with a bottle jack from the factory and replaced my broken scissor jack. I borke the scissor jack by jacking my libby up in the back, and because I did not engage 4wd the jeep just rolled over the jack.
