T-case / rear axle

Hey guys,

does anyone know of the top of their head what size wrench do i need to drain the transfer case?

also am i just not seeing it or there is no drain plug in the rear diff?

:confused:

The rear axle doesn't have a drain hole. The cover must be remove to drain the fluid. You need to scrape off the old RTV and apply new RTV...another option is to get a paper gasket (I got mine at Advance Auto), or look into a product called LubeLocker. A bit expensive, I haven't tried it, but some people say you can re-use it.

ohh yeah...i heard that the front and rear require a different gear oil?

ATF+4 is the only fluid that can be used in our transfer case. Valvoline makes ATF+4 for about $5/qt. Much cheaper than the Mopar ATF+4 at the dealer.

I paid $4.70 at walmart. I believe it was $5.xx at advance auto but they dont have Valvoline or Mopar. My advance only has Castrol ATF+$.
